BRITISH pop legends will join together on a New York stage today for the most eagerly awaited show since Live Aid.
David Bowie Sir Paul McCartney Mick Jagger and Sir Elton John are among the star-studded line-up paying tribute to those killed in the World Trade Center attacks.
Bowie will open the five-hour show to be broadcast live on satellite channel VH1 singing his classic hit Heroes with U2’s Bono and The Edge.
Beatle Macca reckons it’s the most important gig of his 40-year career.
He said: It will be emotional not least because 5000 of the audience are from the fire and police and rescue services and their families.
Just looking out at them will be emotional. These guys went back into the building when most of us would have run away.
