Trouble in Paradise

給料カットにも・・。

ガーティアンをみてたらこんな記事が・・。
イギリスって結構観光で食べてる国だけど不景気だった上にあのテロ事件以降、ますます落ちこむ一方のようで、記事によると、マドンナが常客となっている有名なホテル１泊２０００ポンド（スイート）の従業員の時給が２.１５ポンド！から最高でも４.１ポンド（プラスチップ）の雇用条件で来月の契約をせまっているらしい。

こうやってみると、やっぱり日本て雇用賃金高いと思う。ましてやロンドンの物価は東京以上だもの。ま、もともと旅行業界、ホテル業界は給料はあまりよくないのだけれど・・。

レートで換算すると・・・１ポンド１８０円として、ええ？３８７円？実質はもっと低いかも。ショップクラークでももっともらってんじゃないかな？？しかもイギリスは税金で２０％以上もっていかれるし、通常交通費もでない。こんなんで生活できるのだろうか？

The Guardian

One of London’s newest and smartest hotels which charges pound;2000 for a night in the penthouse suite and counts Madonna as one of its regulars has told staff to sign contracts with a starting wage of pound;2.15 an hour.
The Sanderson hotel wants bar workers and restaurant staff to accept a new pay scheme next month when its current shift system is due to be scrapped under which wages will be topped up by tips which can be used to boost income above the minimum wage of pound;4.10. The hotel claims staff can treble their wages from tips.
