ALBION'S reserves gave their temporary management team plenty of food for thought ahead of this weekend's Southampton trip with a spirited performance that almost had high-flying Manchester United beaten for only the third time this season.
The Baggies' fifth draw of the season was eventually secured as Shelton's side finished the game strongly, much to the delight of a large Albion contingent.
They, along with the on-looking Burrows, will have been pleased with the plenty of bright points to come from the game, including the form of Smikle and Berthe as well as the completion of another 90 minutes for Japanese star Junichi Inamoto, who continues his rehabilitation from injury.
JUNICHI Inamoto will continue to build up his fitness as Albion reserves entertain Manchester United at Aggborough tonight (Monday, ko 7pm).
The Japan international played his third successive 90 minutes for Gary Shelton's second string in the goalless draw at Blues last week after a four-month injury lay off.
And he will get further match action under his belt as the Baggies' Premiership Reserve League (North) fixtures switch to Kidderminster's ground for the first time this term.
Scott Dobie and Lloyd Dyer, who both came off the bench in the 4-1 defeat by Chelsea on Saturday, are also named in Shelton's 16.
