Top 3 Features of the Mercedes-Benz CLS Launched at LA Auto Show
Mercedes-Benz just launched a new addition to its dream cars in the form of the all-new CLS. The Mercedes-Benz CLS is classified as a four-door coupe and it is currently in its third generation series.
1. Design
The CLS sits between the mid-range E-Class luxury car and Mercedes’ flagship S-Class. What makes the car distinct from its close four-door siblings is its fastback roofline that is also reminiscent of the E-Class Coupe.
The new CLS features a major overhaul in its design compared to its predecessor. The new model has smoother surfaces in its hood, boot lid and side panels, thanks to its less prominent body lines and more curvaceous corners. The other noticeable changes include the sharper lights and diamond grille styling.
The interior of the car carries many high-end design elements from the E-Class. Among them are the circular air vents and widescreen digital displays. The vents are visually enhanced by their illuminated background.
The third-gen CLS gets a new seat design exclusively made for its range. The car can hold up to five occupants, including the driver.
2. Technology
The new Mercedes-Benz CLS has no shortage in tech features that help improve its comfort, safety and driving performance. In addition to its digital cockpit, the auto has ambient lighting system to set the mood of its occupants. Optional is the Energizing comfort control that manages the heating, massage, climate and musical theme of the vehicle.
Then, its safety and navigation are enhanced by the advanced elements found in the S-Class like the Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, Speed Limit Assist and the occupant protection system PRE-SAFE. More advanced features are provided by the optional Driving Assistance and Driving Assistance Plus packages of Mercedes.
3. Engine
At launch, the CLS comes with a six-cylinder engine in three trims. The CLS 350 d 4MATIC has 286 hp. The CLS 400 d 4MATIC has 340 hp. The CLS d 450 4MATIC has 367 hp plus 22 hp coming from its EQ Boost.
Tearing Down a Mazda MX-5 Miata Engine in a Timelapse Video
The engine truly works wonders in a car. After all, it is the heart of a vehicle. Despite its complex function, do you know how easy it is to dismantle it into pieces? The video above shows the teardown of a Mazda MX-5 Miata engine in a timelapse presentation.
A video released by the YouTube channel “How a Car Works” demonstrates how the Miata engine was disassembled down to the valves, crankshaft, cylinders, timing gears, rods and other major components. Looking at it, it appears that tearing down an engine is fairly easy, given the right tools and working space.
The video was made to promote the channel. As implied by its name, it features video courses explaining how a car works. So far, it has other videos showing the MX-5 Miata’s subframe and the operation of same car’s steering system. It looks like they either have a fondness for the MX-5 Miata or they are sponsored by a Mazda dealer. It is also likely that they are supported by the Mazda company itself.
Going back to the power unit, the visible markings state that it is a DOHC 16-valve engine. According to Motor Authority , it might have come from UK-spec right-hand drive MX-5.
The base model of the MX-5 Miata is powered by a 1.8-liter engine in the US. It is likely that the video shows the smaller 1.6-liter UK version of it. The output of the inline-four engine is estimated to be somewhere between 90 and 130 hp.
Based on Mazda’s UK website, the MX-5 Miata roadster has a starting price of £18,795. It embodies the KODO design, which combines sportiness with stylish appeal.
For two consecutive years, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has won the “Whatcar? Car of the Year” award under the “Best Convertible” category. The giver of the award is considered to be Britain’s top monthly car review magazine.
Top 3 Features Of The 2018 BMW M5 Sedan’s New Powerful Engine
German automaker BMW finally unleashed its 2018 BMW M5 in all its glory. Though looking very similar to the regular 5 Series, it now has larger grilles, trademark vents in the fenders, an aggressive rear valance with a faux diffuser.
Once you enter the car, you’ll find the same luxurious BMW setup—special-power heated sport seats with illuminated M5 logos and two bright red M buttons on the steering wheel.
If you want to be wowed by the new M5 , you’ll have to pop open the hood. Underneath, you’ll find a plethora of amazing specifications.
1. Produces 600 Horsepower
The 2018 BMW M5 will have the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine, but it can now produce 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 40 horsepower and 53 pound-feet of torque from the previous generation (that’s not counting the fact that a limited edition producing 600 horsepower was also released).
2. Paired with a Unique All-Wheel Drive System
Impressed with the power and torque? That was paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, which was a first for an M5. Don’t fret, the unique system will also allow the M5 to function on purely a rear-wheel-drive setup, one of the car’s three driving modes.
The all-wheel-drive system will keep the stability control from intervening in the driving mode. It will instead provide more traction and control from the first drive. And thanks to the unique system, the car will also be able to hit 60 mph from 0 mph in just 3.2 seconds. The top speed is 189 mph when paired with the M Driver’s Package. Without it, it can still go to 155 mph.
3. Improved Handling Experience
The 5 Series traditionally has the double-wishbone front setup and the multi-link rear suspension. This has been revamped on the 2018 M5. There are now firmer anti-roll bars and loads of chassis bracing. It also boasts of 19-inch wheels, which count for the wider track.
The 3 Power Options For The New Jeep Wrangler
The new JL-series Wrangler will be introduced in November 2017 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and is expected to be in dealerships by December of the same year. This 2018 Jeep Wrangler model will have three new power options customers can choose from, including a diesel engine that will surely be the favorite for so many.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles held a meeting with select Jeep dealers this week for the new model, making the information about the three powertrains available for us.
1. Inline-4 Engine
During the launch in November 2017, there will be two powertrain options instantly available for customers. The standard option will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, which has already been confirmed as early as last year. Reports and estimations indicate that the engine will be able to produce as much as 300 horses. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2. V-6 Engine
The second power option in the launch would be an upgraded version of the 3.6-liter V-6 engine, which is in the current Jeep Wrangler. It has an output of 285 horsepower, but that would be significantly boosted in the 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Those who will prefer the V-6 engine can pair it up with either a manual or automatic transmission, though the automatic one would probably the choice for most drivers.
3. Diesel Engine
Finally, the most important tidbit of information we got is that the third powertrain option would be a diesel engine. This would be introduced in 2019 the earliest, but there could be a couple of adjustments because the diesel option in discussion is the 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that FCA has been having trouble with because of emissions. There are also some rumors that the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tanks, which were used to reduce nitrogen oxides in diesel vehicles, would be fitted in the new Wrangler.
There are no news yet on how many horses the diesel engine can produce for the Wrangler, but if it’s any indication, the Jeep Grand Cherokee had 240 horsepower. It will be possibly paired with an automatic transmission.

2018 Ford Mustang GT Gets 7,500 RPM
A new Ford Mustang GT is currently being tested. Spy shots of the car have surfaced a week ago giving us a preview of its external features. One of the leaked photos take us to the interior of the car, which reveal the revolutions per minute or rpm of its engine.
According to Fox News Auto , the new Mustang GT will bear a 2018 model year. The exterior upgrades include sleeker hood, revised headlamps and lower suspension.
What’s more interesting was the information revealed by the spy pictures of the car’s interior. The analog tachometer of the vehicle indicates that it is capable of generating 7,500 rpm.
Reports said the 2018 Mustang GT will get Ford’s updated 5.0-liter V8 engine. The unit is rumored to offer more power than the current one’s 435 hp. The new port, direct fuel injection and new intake system based on the Shelby GT 350’s 5.2-liter V8 are expected to bring about the boost in the output of the auto.
The new data hinted by the spy shot complements the concept of Ford for the new digital instrument cluster of the Mustang GT, which was released in January. The display of the rendering show up to 7,500 rpm while the car makes use of its Sport+ mode.
The source also claimed that the power of the Mustang GT will likely be distributed via a 10-speed automatic transmission similar to the one utilized by the F 150. Those who want the manual shifting process can opt for the re-engineered six-speed manual transmission of Ford.
The 2018 Mustang GT is will most probably hit the market by fall this year. In 2016, the Mustang was the best-selling sports car in the United States. The brand sold 105,000 units in the country. It outperformed its rival the Chevrolet Camaro by 30,000 last year.
3 Key Selling Points of the Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the best medium-sized SUVs in the world today. The pricing for the auto starts at £22,995, which is around $29,835.55. So what are the things that make it worth your money?
Here are the top 3 selling points of the SUV based on a Top Gear review:
1. Engine
The Tiguan is available in various engine trims. The most affordable comes in the form of the 1.4 TSi BMT 125 S 5dr. The petrol-fed unit packs a good 125 bhp enabling it to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 10.5 seconds.
For the environmentally-conscious buyers who are also looking for the most fuel-efficient model, the 2.0 TDi BMT 115 S 5dr is highly recommended for them. The diesel engine of the auto has a CO2 emission of 123 g/km and its fuel efficiency is rated at 60.1 mpg. Its output is pretty decent at 115 bhp with zero to 62 mph acceleration of 10.9 seconds.
For the ones who prefer the quickest powertrain, they should opt for the 2.0 BiTDi BMT 240 4Motion R-Line 5dr DSG. Priced at £38,955, the vehicle produces 240 bhp that allows it to sprint from zero to 62 mph in only 6.5 seconds. The only trade off is its 167 g/km CO2 emission and 44.1 mpg consumption.
2. Exterior
The Tiguan possesses a muscular frame accentuated by its artistically-placed body lines. The SUV measures 4,486 mm in length, 2,099 mm in width, 1,657 mm in height and 2,681 mm in wheelbase. The standard model is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels while the sportier, range-topping variant has 20-inch alloys wheels.
3. Interior
Not much can be said in the interior design of the Tiguan. The styling follows a practical approach, which puts over functionality and space before design. Owners can pimp up the interior of the auto with the optional Virtual Cockput TFT dials found in the Audi TT.

4 Things To Know About The 2018 Ford Expedition Drivetrain
Spy photos showed that the 2018 Ford Expedition is currently in the development stage. Traditionally, the Expedition is based on the F-150, which Ford worked tirelessly to improve. However, in recent model years, that distinction has grown distant in terms of suspension and exterior and interior styling.
On the front exterior, the spy shots revealed that the 2018 model year for the Expedition has a new look that will mirror the design styling of the current F-150 pickup. It will have that muscular chiseled look that is reminiscent of the first-ever F-150, including the numbered keypad on the driver’s side, of course.
Here are four items you should check about the 2018 Expedition based on a report from TopSpeed :
1. It Will Carry The 3.5-Liter EcoBoost
The new Expedition is bound to have the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine we see in the 2017 F-150 truck. Because this is the EcoBoost’s second generation, it can create bigger power with 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, which is essentially coming close to a V-8 engine. In fact, that is more than General Motor’s 6.2-liter V-8 that can be found under the hood of the Cadillac Escalade and some versions of the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
2. It Has A 10-Speed Automatic Transmission
The engine is going to be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which was developed together with GM and is the first-ever volume-production 10-speed automatic in the world. Compared to the previous six-speed automatic transmission, this new system will deliver better performance and acceleration. The Expedition will be offered in both RWD and 4WD.
3. It Has A V-6 For A Standard Engine
According to reports, there will also be a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 for the 2018 Expedition… and it will come as a standard engine! It packs 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. It may fall behind the 3.5-liter engine, but it would be able to handle the all-aluminum Expedition with no problem.
4. It Might Have A Turbodiesel Option
There is no confirmation yet, but it looks like Ford is working to develop a small turbodiesel option for the F-150, and we might just see this under the Expedition’s hood, too. Certainly, that would explain why the spy shots have a massive exhaust pipe.
