[SEARCHING THREAD] Is there any piece of media that you’re looking for? + Lost Media Discussion Thread
I don’t know if this should go here or in ‘Things I’m making or doing’- move it if it’s not appropriate for this.
Okay! So, almost everyone has an odd childhood memory of some movie, book, game, tv show, animation, website, or song- and a lot of these don’t have names attached to them. Do you have one of these things? If you do, tell us about it!
There are a lot of people here with their own experiences, so they might be able to find yours for you.
If you don’t have one, try describing something you do remember and see if anyone here knows what you’re talking about.
You might be able to help someone find theirs: if you think you recognize any of the recent posts, please reply to them! Remember: it could be the right answer!
On a larger scale, many pieces of media are lost or almost lost- one example of lost media that was then found is the Clockman, an animated short that remained almost a legend until it surfaced again, which is a good example of the kind of stuff we discuss. If you want to get into lost media, try visiting a lost media community online and reading up on some famous cases.

Gonna carry one over from an old post in a similar thread:
There's also another one I lost a while ago, but I think I might have found it. If it doesn't turn out to be the game I have in mind, I'll post here too.
I'm requesting help trying to track down a Mario fangame I played when I was about seven or so. I remember a few aspects, but I've completely lost the name.On top of that, I think the graphics were a cross between the 8-bit and 16-bit Mario games and at least a few of the cosmetic upgrades were based on the official games too. I'm scoping out for this one currently, still drop me a post if you think you have it though.
From what I recall, the gameplay was much like standard Mario platforming fare except there was also an underground upgrades area where you could buy cosmetic changes and (possibly) cheats. It was also made in Game Maker and was on the section of Mario fangames before YoYo Games moved on from that.

Gonna carry one over from an old post in a similar thread:First, is it on this list? What year was it, approximately? I can see if archive.com has the popular pages from that time.

Sorry for not responding earlier! I was actually looking for it on the Mario Fan Games Galaxy Wiki, but couldn't find it. Anyways, that doesn't seem to be it, but I'll keep looking out for it.

I forget what it was called, but when I was little I used to watch a show about these two kids who would go with some penguins from space on a spaceship and would learn life lessons. It kind of reminded me of Veggietales and I think it could've been made by the same people.
I don't know the exact year it came out, but I think it's from somewhere around 2008-2010 if that helps.

I don't have much info, but it's worth a shot.
The main piece of info is that it was used in an Australian television commercial for APT. I remember this commercial playing mid to late last year, although the song is from sometime before that (not sure how long ago). I'm sure explaining how the song goes won't be of much help (because my explanation is short & makes it sound too generic) but I'll do it anyway.
It starts off with a piano playing the main melody (I think that's the right term). Then the vocals come in, male voices, calm tone. The guitar comes in I think, and I don't remember anything after that.
If anybody knows it then I would be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance.

I remember this game that freaked me out when I was younger. The main screen of the game was an underwater coral scene that either used real images or “realistic” drawings (not in the sense that they were well shaded, just that they were shaped like their irl counterparts rather than cartoon) though this could just be a false memory. I recall there were fish swimming back and forth along with bubbles coming up from offscreen. I was very young when I played it (i'd say it was early 2000s at a guess) and the thing that freaked me out was a man's voice casually saying “I am not a bubble. I am not a fish.”- this was as the game was obviously some kind of “find X” thing bus as a young kid it came off as some kind of suspenseful threat.
I'm not even sure if this exists but when I told family members about it and they seemed to recall it being real. I'm also not sure how much of what I remember is false memories as it's been ages since I saw it but I'm confident that the “I am not a bubble. I am not a fish.” line is real since it stuck with me so much.

There are quite a few games that sound like this on old educational sites. Also, on that topic, was it supposed to teach you something (I.e, were the bubbles numbers and you had to pop them if they added up to numbers on the top)?

Did it have one of those “text to speech” like voices, or are you sure it was an actual man?
Also, can I ask you to find something I already know the name of so you can work on your Googling abilities?

Did it have one of those “text to speech” like voices, or are you sure it was an actual man?I'm certain it was an actual man. Kind of young to middle aged sounding, no strong accent (but probably British since that's what I'm used to hearing) and said in a very calm, almost monotone way.

There’s a puzzle game series called Freddi Fish that seems like it could be. Is it a shot in the dark? Here are some graphics:
It could have been a mini game or something.

If this helps, I remember the screen it was focused on having about two ‘hills’ with coral on with the background behind them just being bright blue sea.
