The Bad Guys Topic: Great movies, mid show

The Bad Guys is a film series by DreamWorks Animation based on the book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey. Discuss both the films and the books here in this topic! Just make sure to follow the forum guidelines and stay on topic.

As of now, there are two films, one in 2022 and one in 2025. In the films, the Bad Guys are a notorious gang of criminals who, in the first film, try to go good after a failed heist in order to stay out of jail, only for Mr. Wolf, the leader, actually wanting to change his ways. In the second film, they are blackmailed back into the bad life by an all-female group of crooks.

As of now, there are 20 books. In the series, Mr. Wolf has changed his ways and gathers his friends to go good together by trying to do good deeds that somehow succeed, until they get caught up in the nefarious plans of guinea pig Dr. Rupert Marmalade. In the second half of the series, Wolf and the gang go on a journey through the multiverse to defeat Dread Overlord Splaarghon, an evil being who seeks to conquer the multiverse.

I've seen the second movies like 2 weeks ago it was a good movie I kinda wished they added on to the end scene of the movie where they all become secret agents.

I watched the animated short Diamond Jack on yt
it’s rlly good and it reminded me of The Bad Guys

bruh I go onto tbg sub on Reddit and like half of the posts are abt Diane Foxington
like yes I know she’s great and a well-developed character, her chemistry with Wolf is great, and people just generally like her appearance, but it’s getting a bit tiring

so I saw the trailer for The Bad Guys: Breaking In
It looks… decent, definitely a bit better than those holiday specials
I’m just gonna consider it non-canon since it does a huge retcon
the series shows that webs joined before the gang was notorious, but it’s shown in the second film that she joined when they were already very infamous
the car is also a vintage-looking red one in the series and they try to do many heists in the series with her, but in the films her first heist was the one where they got their signature black car
so either she shouldn’t be there, or the black car should be there, or they should already be notorious and feared
it also takes away the whole point of the gang; they were notorious because they were animals that were commonly very feared, so them having to work for infamy and no one being scared or terrified or distrustful of them takes away the whole point of them being criminals

ok I love her design, voice acting, and how menacing she is as a villain, but man she was mean for ruining Diane’s entire reputation just like that
although my headcanon is that this scrapped scene of Diane and Kitty once being partners-in-crime is actually canon and she wanted revenge on Diane for abandoning her by turning good, so she decided to expose her when the time was right

oh I like snake too
just a grumpy lil guy who’s now lovestruck with a raven
he has a great dynamic with Wolf in the first film
also my favorite character is Misty Luggins (the chief turned commissioner)
