Problem with Copies / Problemas com Cópias
English: / Inglês:
Dear Scratch Team and Community,
My suggestion is the implementation of an Automated Copy Detection Tool (inspired by Content ID) to address the persistent problem of project copying and the lack of attribution (credit), which causes major frustration among creators and burdens moderation staff.
The Problem (Two Parts):
Identical Republishing: Original, complex projects are copied entirely (1:1 copies), which requires manual and time-consuming reporting.
Lack of Credit (Attribution): Even in legitimate remixes, users intentionally or accidentally fail to credit the original creator, violating the platform's CC BY-SA license.
The Proposed Solution: Upload Verification System (Simplified Content ID):
I propose a system that triggers an alert if a new project shows a high degree of similarity to an existing project.
For Copying (1:1 Plagiarism): If the new project is 95% or more identical in art and code to an existing project, the system should prioritize the report for immediate removal by the team.
For Attribution (Credit): If the use of another author's core art/code is detected in a remix (with modifications), the system should automatically require the uploader to:
Tag the original author in the Notes and Credits section.
Or confirm that they have given credit in the description before the project can be published.
Why This Works:
This tool does not prevent creative remixing or learning. It automates the enforcement of existing Scratch rules (prohibiting republishing and requiring credit), alleviating the moderators' workload and allowing creators to focus on creation.
Thank you for considering this vital issue.
Sincerely, caiodantas8909.

Prezada Equipe do Scratch e Comunidade,
Atenciosamente, caiodantas8909.

Problem with Copies / Problemas com Cópias
This is a really great suggestion to think about! Thieves can just copy other people's projects only to reupload it and claim that it's theirs. This can be very frustrating, as they wrongfully take other people's work and try to take their credit. It would be wonderful to have a way to automatically credit people even if the project is a copy. I can't think of anything that would go horribly wrong, although I'm a little unsure how it's supposed to detect art and code. If it only relies on looking at art and code, it could probably mistake the project for someone else's. If it's just detecting the fact that it's copied from another person's project, then yeah, I don't see too many issues.
I'm gonna go with support on this one unless there's potential issues I'm missing.

How it is ever supposed to know what's similar and what's not?

How it is ever supposed to know what's similar and what's not? With “the clanker”. The AI will also be able to tell if it's by coincidence, or being traced and stuff.

No support, projects with no coding or minor changes in remixes are allowed.
This would just flag innocent projects like art or generic projects.
Even more innocent projects, if it was AI moderated.
