Dear Valued Clients, Family, and Friends,
If you have driven by our salon or stopped in recently for a service, we are sure you’ve noticed all of the brightly colored flyers promoting our annual ‘Funky Hair Because We Care 5K Fun Walk/Run’. While a majority of our regular clients have taken an immediate interest in this event, we felt it would be beneficial to let you know what we are hoping to accomplish through this event and what the purposes behind this event are.
Many of us, as unfortunate as it is, are affected by the growing heroin epidemic. Whether it’s a friend, co-worker or loved one, we watch people we care about ride the slippery slope of addiction, in hopes that the end result is not a permanent one. This is something that we feel very passionate about at SoZo HAIR. The owners and staff at our salon decided that it is high time someone does something to raise awareness about this terrible drug and it’s effects, and our youth are the most important audience for this awareness to start. If we can educate our young people about the severity of this drug and other drugs like it, we can hopefully make a positive impact on the effect that drugs are having on our communities. So the idea for the SoZo Drug Free Kids Foundation was born. But how do you go about making a dream or idea like this come to life? Lots of teamwork, passion, communication and hard work! In order to start a fund we presented our cause to the Community Foundation and township officials, then we must accumulate a set dollar amount to put into a special account through the Community Foundation where funds can be accumulated and appropriated correctly. Once we were given a dollar amount to work toward the idea for our 5K fun walk/run really started to come to life. The funds raised at the 5K will go into this special account and be used to promote drug awareness among our local youth with fun education for PREVENTION.
The staff at SoZo Hair have spent the last several months meeting about ideas for sponsors, pooling our resources and getting our personal friends and families involved, and now on Sunday, September 22, 2019 we will be bringing our cause to you! Our 5K Fun Walk/Run will begin and end right here at SoZo HAIR, and will start at 10:00 that morning, running through about 12 p.m. that afternoon. There will be a D.J., games, split the pot, silent auction, face painting, food and beverages and much more. This event is a family friendly, and family focused event so please bring your loved ones with you! All of the proceeds from the event that day will go to the EDGE Teen Center at Cornerstone Church in West Chester, OH.
If you are interested in donating to the SoZo Drug Free Kids Fund or Sponsoring this event please stop into the salon where we can provide you with a donation letter and the forms for tax write off.
