AB - Attempts have been made to reconstruct the original images of the sundial-like stone settings at the ?yu Stone Circles in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, which are part of a World Heritage site, using CycleGAN. Images of riverbed stones have been utilized as the target due to the absence of recently constructed sundial-like stone settings. However, since CycleGAN is designed to transform the entire image to resemble the target image, the desired outcomes have not been achieved. Consequently, experiments have been conducted with a modified approach called Masked CycleGAN, where the transformation is focused solely on the stone parts of the input images. Although a decrease in loss values has been observed with ResNet compared to U-Net within the structure of the generator, the anticipated results have not been realized.
