The Rebozo Festival is a benefit event established to raise funds for Ventura County non-profit charitable organizations focusing on the cultural, social and educational needs of the community. This unique cultural event promotes the rich heritage of our area by highlighting the colorful Mexican rebozo (shawl) as our theme.
The Rebozo Festival will take place on Sunday May 19, at the Camarillo Ranch House in Camarilo from 11 am to 6 pm.
“This year we celebrate the 20th Year Anniversary that began with a dream and dedication of community leader Irma J. Lopez. She was soon joined with other county women leaders to create the Rebozo Festival to benefit our county nonprofit,” said Yolanda M. Benitez member of the organization.
This year’s Honorary Madrina Luz Villaseñor Cuevas, has repeatedly declined to be recognized for her generosity and philanthropic contributions surrounding the Rebozo Festival and local Oxnard community. Luz is a native of Los Angeles (Boyle Heights), but has been a Ventura County resident for the last 32 years and considers this her true home.
Recipients are: California State University, Channel Islands Foundation for $20,000 for AB540 student scholarships and The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Channel Islands High School Youth Council 2102 for $10,000 to attend a leadership event in Washington DC.
Music will be provided by Trio Sensacion, Marachi Aguilar de J. Carlos Ozuna, InStone, Singer Tere Vallejo and the Oxnard College Ballet Folklorico Mestizo under the direction of Matilde “Mati” Sanchez
“Come and join us for great food, music, dancing and support our community non-profits. The celebration begins at 11:00am- 6:00 pm,” said Benitez.
“Tickets are $80.00 a person and can be purchased online at rebozofestival.org. Other ticket locations can be found on this website,” said Benitez.
