Things got extra spooky on "Dancing with the Stars" as the show entered Week 7.

As Halloween creeps up, the 10 remaining couples took on Horror Movie Night on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with performances inspired by legendary horror films. To make things even scarier, eliminations resumed − and two couples were sent home − after nobody was eliminated during Dedication Night the week prior .

With just four shows remaining before the big finale, pressure was certainly be haunting the ballroom, and Shirley Ballas being the guest judge only raised the stakes more. She currently serves as head judge on the U.K.'s "Strictly Come Dancing" and appeared as a judge on "Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro" on its debut season.

Known for her meticulous eye, Shirley Ballas earned the nickname "Queen of Latin" during her time as a record-breaking competitive dancer. She is also mother of pro Mark Ballas , who is paired with reality star Maura Higgins on Season 35. And she didn't hold back when it came to her judging, handing out scores as low as 4.

The night also marked the return of pro Val Chmerkovskiy , who was absent last week after being suspended for making a controversial social media remark that appeared to be a direct reference to Will Smith's Oscars slap at judge Carrie Ann Inaba . He and Inaba shared a heartfelt moment, and the pro dancer also apologized to partner Jenna Dewan for creating "chaos" and pulling her into the mess.

Alan Bersten stepped in to take the dance floor with Jenna Dewan for Dedication Night on Tuesday, Oct. 20, after her usual partner Val Chmerkovskiy was suspended for a week.

During the Oct. 13 episode of the hit ABC competition series, Inaba criticized Chmerkovskiy's wife Jenna Johnson, also a pro, and her partner Harry Shum Jr. for doing a controversial lift during their performance. Chmerkovskiy then shared a since-deleted TikTok story alluding to the infamous moment when Smith went onstage and slapped Rock, who made a joke about the actor's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Who got voted off 'DWTS' tonight? Double elimination takes two victims

The Halloween Movie Night massacre on "Dancing with the Stars" claimed two couples on Oct. 27, as Jackson Olson and partner Emma Slater, along with Tyler Cameron and partner Sharna Burgess, were eliminated.

Tyler had appeared very upset after his dance. He apologized at the end, saying he was upset with his performance. Gave a classy goodbye to Burgess, his partner. Olson was all perky class in his farewell.

The double elimination followed last week's "Dedication Night," when all the contestants were spared elimination, setting up the brutal Halloween showdown.

The final three couples facing elimination were Olson and Slater, Cameron and Burgess, and Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik. Ali and Ravnik survived the scare.

The couples declared immediately safe were Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold, Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov, Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson, Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy, Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach, Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas, and Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa.

Mark Ballas faces mom Shirley Ballas' judging with Maura Higgins

09:53 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

Rehearsal drama:Maura Higgins said she'd remember her dance from last week, which she dedicated to Ireland, for the rest of her life. But she'd be relishing in the happy moment even more with this week's challenge in front of her: dancing on Horror Movie Night with partner Mark Ballas' mom judging them. Not to mention, she had a Contemporary dance with a "lot of lifts with a lot of speed."

"I'm not an actress, people in the competition do this for a living so I just hope to God that I kill it," the "Traitors" alum said.

Dance:Higgins and Ballas danced to "Cry Little Sister (Theme from "the Lost Boys)" by Gerard McMann, inspired by "The Lost Boys." They nailed the creepy theme, with Higgins' blood-soaked gown, their fake fangs and white contacts.

Bruno Tonioli said she had a "fantastical lyrical quality" but urged her to extend her arms and really pull the movements from the floor. Derek Hough called Higgins a "phenomenal performer" and agreed that she needed to point her toes and extend the arms. Shirley Ballas called it "powerful" and said she'd like to see her feet rotate a bit more so that the routine will "flow" more.

And Carrie Ann Inaba panicked on the spot and forgot what she was going to say, only noting that she agreed with Tonioli. She later shouted out before giving her score that Higgins' "hands were gorgeous."

Score: 32/40

Amber Glenn spreads her wings with stunning 'Black Swan' tango

09:40 PM ET, October 27 2026, Bryan Alexander

Rehearsal drama:Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn was already a Season 35 favorite, but she pushed for even more with partner Pasha Pashkov. "We're at the top," Glenn said in the video. She was also taking on one of her favorite movies, "Black Swan," giving her extra motivation. "I can really relate to this movie," she said, talking about the pursuit of perfection and declaring, "I want to be the Black Swan." Glenn vowed to make "that 11-year-old me proud."

Dance:Glenn and Pashkov performed an Argentine Tango to "Perfection" by Clint Mansell, inspired by "Black Swan." Glenn fully embraced her dark transformation, sporting ghostly white makeup and a black feathered costume. The ballroom became a sinister ballet stage, filled with smoke and chandeliers, with feathers seemingly falling from the sky. Pashkov spun Glenn across the floor before the routine built to a high-kicking Tango climax, with Glenn dramatically whipping out her arm for the final flourish.

Shirley Ballas praised the "beautiful movement across the floor," adding, "I totally enjoyed it." Bruno Tonioli was so thrilled that he began flapping his arms like a swan, accidentally smacking Ballas in the process.

Carrie Ann Inaba called it "another wonderful performance," although she pointed out some tightness in Glenn's movements.

"You're exquisite to watch," Derek Hough told Glenn.

Scores: 36/40, with straight 9s.

Tyler Cameron nearly walks off after low scores

09:31 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

Rehearsal drama:Tyler Cameron was coming off "the best night" of his life after revealing his fiancée was pregnant and they were having a baby girl. And with Halloween holding a special place in his heart after becoming a neighborhood favorite for handing out peanut butter, the Bachelor Nation star was determined not to go home.

"I don't wanna go home, I wanna work," he said. But it wouldn't be an easy feat, with partner Sharna Burgess demanding Cameron step up to the plate when it comes to his acting.

Dance:Cameron took the ballroom floor, appearing nearly unrecognizable with a long black-haired wig, top hat and fake facial hair. He and Burgess danced a passionate Viennese Waltz to "Love Song for a Vampire" by Annie Lennox, inspired by "Bram Stoker's Dracula," which ended with an intense chest stabbing.

However, the judges weren't totally moved by it. Derek Hough said it was "so smooth" but pointed out that his frame wasn't as strong as it needed to be. Shirley Ballas noted his "acting skills were great" but his technical skills needed work. Bruno Tonioli echoed that he "really felt it" with emotion, but he lost his frame.

Carrie Ann Inaba tested the waters, saying she disagreed with Ballas' feedback and that she didn't think the acting was very good and he "danced smaller" due to Burgess' shorter stature.

Score: 26/40, with Ballas giving a 5. Cameron was not happy by the scores, could barely muster a smile and tried to walk away from the camera shot before the show cut to commercial break. Yikes.

Jackson Olson goes bananas as the Joker

09:16 PM ET, October 27 2026, Bryan Alexander

Rehearsal drama:Jackson Olson was doing everything possible to escape the bottom of the "Dancing with the Stars" leaderboard, and embracing the Joker looked like his ticket out. But the iconic villain brought serious expectations. "There's a lot of pressure to live up to that," Olson said. He promised a startling transformation. "You're going to see this dark persona you don't see from me."

Dance:Olson and partner Emma Slater performed a contemporary to Frank Sinatra's "That's Life," inspired by "Joker." Both wore the villain's signature red suits, with Olson sporting toxic green hair. Against a Gotham City backdrop featuring an empty taxi and raging flames, Olson whipped Slater around his head in a series of wild lifts, even flashing a creepy little tongue wave during one manic move. He spun his partner into the finale as the set erupted in fake flames.

"You lit this place on fire!" declared co-host Alfonso Ribeiro. Carrie Ann Inaba called the performance "kind of weird in a good way."

"I hate clowns, but I loved that performance," Derek Hough said.

Guest judge Shirley Ballas called the routine "terrifying" and praised its challenging choreography. Bruno Tonioli declared, "The Joker is your trump card."

Score:35/40. Three of Olson's first 9 scores and one Ballas 8.

Ezra Frech mom inspires Horror Movie Night before his painful leg injury

09:09 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

Rehearsal drama:Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach celebrated earning the first 10 of the season and were excited for the challenge ahead in Horror Movie Night, especially with Frech's close connection to the genre. After all, his mom, Bahar Soomekh, acted in "Saw III" though he wasn't particularly a fan of watching it. "No, I don't want to watch my mom get tortured on TV," he said.

The horror movie genre wasn't the only scare happening this week. Frech also suffered a blister injury near where his prosthetic leg connected to his limb. He said felt like he was being "poked with a needle every step," but vowed to keep going. "I've put so much into this process so I'm just gonna fight through it," the Paralympian said.

Dance:The duo danced a Jazz routine that was striking, haunting and powerful. There were tons of lifts and moments of Karagach throwing herself around the dance floor. You'd have no idea that Frech was battling such a painful injury. After the dance, Bruno Tonioli said he was like "a shape-shifting fiend," adding, "What a performance as always!"

Carrie Ann Inaba said she "couldn't tell" he was injured but encouraged him to focus more on his storytelling. Derek Hough commended his athleticism and how captivating he is to watch, but agreed on the storytelling feedback. Shirley Ballas, however, said she "enjoyed the storyline" and lifts.

Score: 35/40

Connor Wood brings creepy Annabelle doll to life in freaky contemporary

08:56 PM ET, October 27 2026, Bryan Alexander

Rehearsal drama:Connor Wood was still riding high after last week's strong performance but knew he needed to escape the bottom two. Wood and partner Rylee Arnold took on a contemporary dance inspired by the horror film "Annabelle: Creation," with Arnold playing the demonic doll and Wood portraying her toymaker.

Dance:Wood and Arnold performed to "You Are My Sunshine" by Charles McDonald. The creepy routine opened with Wood bringing his lifeless partner to life on a couch. Arnold was a freaky Annabelle on the ballroom floor, with Wood keeping up as he tossed her around like a rag doll and even executed a somersault on the couch. The impressively creepy performance drew thunderous applause.

Guest judge Shirley Ballas called the dance "outstanding" and said she would be having nightmares. Bruno Tonioli declared, "You killed the routine," adding, "It was like watching a mini-movie."

Carrie Ann Inaba went even further. "I crown you the Contemporary King," she proclaimed. "You disappeared into that dance."

Scores:37/40, with Carrie Ann and Derek giving 10s.

Val Chmerkovskiy returns to the ballroom, gets compliment from Carrie Ann Inaba

08:49 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

Rehearsal drama:Val Chmerkovskiy celebrated reuniting with his partner Jenna Dewan after his one-week suspension, telling her, "I am so sorry for all the chaos, you did not sign up for that and I feel awful." She accepted his apology and offered a hug, before focusing their sights on the Argentine Tango inspired by "Zombie" movies this week. "We're pushing the envelope with lifts," Chmerkovskiy said.

But it wouldn't be an easy task, since Dewan said she had a genetic upper back issue that would pose some issues. Still, she was determined to get past it. "I'm fighting through," she told cameras.

Dance:Simply stated, the dance was powerful, it was full of passion, they had precision on the footwork, and impressed with the lifts. It delivered all the goods. And the judges said as much, with Derek Hough calling it "one of the best Argentine Tangos I've ever seen on this floor."

Shirley Ballas commended Dewan for properly "twisting" the upper and lower halves of her body. She pointed out there was a "little hiccup" in the routine when Dewan's foot got stuck in her dress, but she kicked it off and kept going like a pro. Bruno Tonioli also celebrated the "power and passion" of the dance.

But it was Carrie Ann Inaba who raised eyebrows with her feedback, giving Chmerkovskiy a compliment right off the bat. "Incredible choreography, Val," she said. She also told the pair, "The dance as a whole was perfection." Looks like all the drama is behind us!

Score: 37/40, with Hough giving a 10.

Tatyana Ali bares her fangs in bloody 'Sinners' paso doble

08:35 PM ET, October 27 2026, Bryan Alexander

Rehearsal drama:Tatyana Ali was still riding high from last week's performance but was determined to survive Halloween Night, especially with Latin dance expert Shirley Ballas serving as a guest judge. Rehearsals were brutal, with Ali taking several tumbles. But she defiantly vowed to "survive."

Dance:Ali and partner Jan Ravnik performed a Paso Doble to "I Lied to You" by Miles Caton, inspired by "Sinners." Whipping a white dress on the floor, Ali was a fierce presence, even ripping a piece of Ravnik's cheek skin off in a gruesome special effect. The vampire-themed dance ended with Ali baring her fangs over her partner.

Carrie Ann Inaba called it Ali's "most powerful dance yet," although she felt the flowing skirt occasionally overpowered her movements. Derek Hough was sold. "Whatever you're selling, I'm buying," he said, calling the performance "epic."

But Ballas wasn't biting. The Latin expert complained that the routine "had no recognizable Paso Doble." She added, "As a Paso Doble goes, it didn't do it for me."

Bruno Tonioli dubbed Ballas the "queen of meanness" before praising Ali's performance.

Score:28/40, with Shirley giving another 4! Ouch.

Harry Shum Jr., Jenna Johnson 'saw' their way to a perfect score

08:30 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

Rehearsal drama:Harry Shum Jr. said he doesn't "particularly like being scared" so this week's Horror Movie Night was not really his thing. "I'm not pretending to be tortured and die," he said. However, partner Jenna Johnson was excited because they had a contemporary dance, which meant they'd be diving into "some tricks and lifts" − likely a thrill for her after being scolded by Carrie Ann Inaba for lifts two weeks ago.

Dance:The "Glee" star danced a terrifying "Saw"-inspired contemporary with a surprise ending cameo from the film's Jigsaw Killer on a bicycle. He contorted his body, pulled off some impressive lifts and tricks, and effectively scared the whole ballroom.

Following the dance, Bruno Tonioli said he "could taste the fear," calling the routine "perfection." Carrie Ann Inaba stood up and simply said, "Bravo." She also praised the dance as "so perfect, so dynamic." (Quite the redemption for these two after the lift drama!) Derek Hough commended the partnership between Shum Jr. and Johnson, as well as the way Shum Jr. committed to the routine.

Tough cookie Shirley Ballas was equally as impressed, saying she "loved your locomotive movements" and that she had "never seen anything quite like that." (Definitely a change-up from her last score!)

Score: 40/40, marking the first perfect score of the season.

Julia Stiles gets freaky in 'The Omen' but DWTS' Shirley Ballas is so unimpressed

08:14 PM ET, October 27 2026, Bryan Alexander

Rehearsal drama:Julia Stiles was still emotional over the outpouring of support for last week's tribute to her "10 Things I Hate About You" co-star Heath Ledger. But the actress, who appeared in the 2006 remake of "The Omen," was ready to get sinister. Rehearsals weren't easy. "Can I just remind everybody I'm 45 years old?" Stiles said. She also warned partner Ezra Sosa about his moods. "You're a cranky bitch when you're tired," she told him.

Dance:Stiles and Sosa performed an Argentine Tango to "The Dogs Attack" by Jerry Goldsmith, Lionel Newman and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, inspired by "The Omen." Wearing a red dress and black heels, Stiles got downright freaky in a church setting, surrounded by veiled women in red dresses. Sosa was the sexy priest who could dance. Stiles even had blood-red beads streaming from each eyes like blood.

Guest host Shirley Ballas was downright harsh in her first critique, hitting on Stiles' form. She's so harsh that the camera caught one of Stiles' family members sticking out her tongue at Shirley from the audience.

"I didn't know you could do that to a priest," joked Bruno Tonioli, calling Ballas, "The mistress of evil." Carrie Ann Inaba found the performance "tense and stiff" and wanted to see Stiles loosen up. Derek Hough suggested the dance "might have been a little hiccup in the journey."

Scores:26/40 with Shirley giving a dismal 4. Shirley sent an instant message and Stiles was stunned. Nobody gives 4's on "DWTS." Certainly not to Julia Stiles.

Horror Movie Night kicks off

08:09 PM ET, October 27 2026, Joelle Goldstein

It's time to get spooky on "Dancing with the Stars." A "Saw"-themed pre-taped package opened the show before guest judge Shirley Ballas made her way into the ballroom − and she wasted no time in bringing the scares.

"Neglect the technique at your own peril," she warned the contestants, or face the consequences of getting a 2.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough also reminded viewers of the night's big twist: a double elimination. Heading into the night, Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov had the advantage, sitting at the top of the leaderboard with 38/40. Meanwhile, three couples tied at the bottom with 32/40: Jackson Olson and Emma Slater, Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik, and Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess.

Val Chmerkovskiy 'Dancing with the Stars' suspension lifted, pro returns to ballroom

06:00 PM ET, October 27 2026, Liza Esquibias

Last week, Val Chmerkovskiy became the first pro in "Dancing with the Stars" history to not be allowed to dance with his celebrity partner, Jenna Dewan , for an episode. This was due to his suspension from the show for a social media post he made implying he wanted to slap judge Carrie Ann Inaba like Will Smith did to Chris Rock , after he made a joke about the actor's wife Jada Pinkett Smith, at the 2022 Oscars.

"You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night," Chmerkovskiy wrote, referring to Smith's character on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." The post was seemingly in response to a critique Inaba gave Chmerkovskiy's wife Jenna Johnson, also a pro, and her partner Harry Shum Jr., for doing a controversial lift during their Oct. 13 performance.

He later apologized, writing on Oct. 15, "I should have never made the reference that I did and I deeply regret it." On Oct. 17, however, BBC Studios revealed Chmerkovskiy – who has been a "DWTS" pro since Season 13 in 2011 – would not be participating in Week 6 of the competition.

Chmerkovskiy, 40, apologized again in a statement, writing, "In a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision to reference a meme to 'keep my wife's name' out of the conversation, without stopping to think through what else that reference could imply, which was genuinely never my intention."

Inaba broke her silence on the situation in an Oct. 25 Instagram comment: "I have not spoke about what happened because of professional courtesy for those who are still competing, and we actually have standards and practices that keep us separated. But I think a part of this 'headline' has missed a few important parts of what happened.

"I think it's important for everyone to know that Jenna and I hugged it out after the Super Bowl show. Jenna was an absolute professional about it, and two women worked through the moment. It came to my attention later that Jenna was deeply hurt. So I also offered to speak with her at anytime. I have also offered to discuss the lift rule and how I enforce it. @sharnaburgess made a great video explaining lifts, assists and which dances allow and don't allow them," she said.

Alan Bersten took Chmerkovskiy's place for Dedication Night, with him and Dewan, 45, performing a Viennese Waltz to "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers in honor of her mom. The routine earned "The Rookie" star her first 10 of the season, which came from Inaba.

The suspension was only briefly addressed at the beginning of the episode, when cohost Alfonso Ribeiro simply said that "Val is not with us this week" and explained that Week 3 eliminee Bersten would be subbing in.

Chmerkovskiy will be back tonight, according to the series' official Instagram page. In an Oct. 25 Story post, Dewan said, "Hi, everybody. Here we are. We are here for 'Halloween Horror Movie Night.' We are doing an Argentine tango to the song 'Uninvited,' inspired by the movie '28 Weeks Later.'"
