This super rare Ford will be up for auction for first time ever at Arizona event

Tiffany Acosta, Arizona Republic

For the first time, Ford Motor Co. is cracking open its private Heritage Vault and one lucky bidder in Scottsdale could drive away with a piece of automotive history.

The automaker is auctioning a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition Production No. 3 during Barrett-Jackson’s Fall Auction at Westworld of Scottsdale on Saturday, Oct. 18.

This isn't just any GT — it’s the earliest Heritage Edition ever released to the public, painted in Epic Orange and Heritage Blue Gulf livery that celebrates Ford’s Le Mans-winning racing legacy. The sale will be “no reserve,” meaning the car will go to the highest bidder no matter the price.

Under the hood, the car boasts a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine producing 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Only 343 Heritage Editions were built, and this one includes its original “Build Book” and certificate of authenticity

Here is everything to know about how to bid for the 2006 Ford GT at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale .

What makes this Ford so special?

Known for attracting car enthusiasts from around the world, Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction will also feature celebrity and historical cars.
