Racing fans are pumped to finally see the Toyota Gen3 GR Supra Supercar ahead of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship . Revealed appropriately at Bathurst , it was also announced six Supras will be campaigned next year between Brad Jones Racing and Walkinshaw Andretti United.

Excitement is running high with the might of Toyota entering the series next year. Fans have already started calling the new model the Supracar, which looks similar to the road-going MKV Supra.

However, it’s not exactly the same vehicle. The racecar comes with a 5.2-liter V8 engine that’s far more powerful than the four- and six-cylinder options in the production model that’s no longer being made.

Not only does this entry into the Supercars series mean a lot of development work has gone into the racecar, the Supra represents a big commitment. Toyota will be racing in the series for at least the next five years, likely much longer, showcasing its motorsports prowess in front of millions.

For anyone in Australia wanting to get a close look at this vehicle in person, that opportunity is coming next month. The GR Supra Supercar will be displayed publicly for the first time at Mount Panorama during the Repco Bathurst 1000. It will also do some demonstration laps so attendees can see it in motion and hear that V8 howl.

Then in February 2026 it will go up against the competition for the first time.

“Toyota has a rich history in Australian motorsport stretching way back to its first ever entry in international motorsport in the 1957 Mobilgas Round Australia Rally and our entry into the Supercars Championship takes this to new heights,” said Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley.
