Official EPA Ratings Give Six-Seat Tesla Model Y L Even More Range

The official federal range numbers are in for the six-seat Tesla Model Y L Premium All-Wheel Drive, and they top Tesla's initial conservative estimates.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified the long-wheelbase SUV at 332 miles of range when equipped with standard 19-inch Machina 2.0 wheels. That marks a 7-mile improvement over Tesla's original 325-mile configurator estimate, establishing the $61,990 Model Y L as the longest-range Model Y variant available in the U.S. market.
The range increase extends to optional wheel packages as well. Equipped with the larger 20-inch Uberhelix wheels, the EPA certified the Model Y L at 328 miles-an 8-mile gain over Tesla's pre-certification rating of 320 miles.

Tesla Model Y L Aerodynamic Efficiency and Wheel-Size Impact
Stretching a vehicle's wheelbase and adding third-row seating traditionally penalizes total efficiency due to added weight and mass. However, the Model Y L offsets its larger footprint using a slightly expanded battery pack alongside dedicated aerodynamic tweaks, including an integrated rear spoiler molded directly into the body shell.
The EPA data reveals a significant difference in wheel-size range degradation between the standard and long-wheelbase variants:
-
Standard Model Y Premium AWD:Rated at 327 miles on standard 19-inch wheels, range drops by 24 miles down to 303 miles when stepping up to 20-inch wheels.
-
Long-Wheelbase Model Y L Premium AWD:Rated at 332 miles on 19-inch wheels, range drops by just 4 miles down to 328 miles on 20-inch wheels-a minor drop of roughly 1.2 percent.
The minimal 4-mile penalty allows Model Y L buyers to select the larger 20-inch wheels without sacrificing meaningful driving range on daily commutes or highway road trips.
The Model Y L Premium AWD carries a base price of $61,990 ($63,630 including mandatory destination and order fees). The EPA's updated range information now displays within Tesla's own configurator .
