Ram’s First SUV Coming With 777-HP Supercharged V8

Ram is best known for trucks, but it's soon to expand into SUVs. A range-extended Ram 1500 REV ( now delayed by up to nine months ) was originally supposed to arrive under the Ramcharger name, but that is now expected to be applied to Ram's first-ever SUV with a V8 , and according to a YouTuber who specializes in Stellantis-related leaks and insider info, the Ramcharger will have several appealing features. TK of TK's Garage claims the front end will look like the Ram TRX, but the rear's aesthetic has yet to be finalized, though it may look similar to that of the Ram REV. Ram Ramcharger Reportedly Getting Supercharged V8, Split Tailgate

The YouTuber claims that the full-size SUV, which will be built atop Jeep Grand Wagoneer bones, will have either a split tailgate or a lay-down tailgate. Unlike the Wagoneer, whose most powerful engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane straight-six making up to 540 horsepower, the Ramcharger will reportedly get the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 seen in the Ram 1500 SRT TRX , where it makes a whopping 777 hp. If the report is true, the Ramcharger will be even more potent than the 682-hp Cadillac Escalade-V , but things could get even more potent, with the video report claiming the Ramcharger will be offered in three output levels, much like the Ram Rumble Bee models. This indicates a base 5.7-liter HEMI V8 (395 hp), a 6.4-liter 392 HEMI (470 hp), and the aforementioned supercharged HEMI V8 (777 hp). Assuming that the same Direct Connection upgrades offered to the Ram 1500 will be made available with the Ramcharger, output could even exceed 900 hp . That's more than the Lamborghini Urus SE Performante , and that has electric assistance to achieve "just" 800 hp.

Reports such as this one should always be taken with a pinch of salt, particularly since the Ramcharger will be built on the same architecture as the Wagoneer, which has no V8 option. That said, what better way to introduce the Ramcharger nameplate than with a high-performance variant (or three) to generate buzz and ensure the full-size SUV is given the same respect as other Ram vehicles? There's also the possibility that V8 range-toppers will be offered alongside more affordable straight-six-powered Ramchargers, potentially allowing pricing to start under $60,000.
