These pants made the outfit, even if the sizing was doing a little too much

If there's one thing I love, it's a pair of pants that can pretty much make the entire outfit, and these brown corduroy pants did exactly that. I love the oversized look, the brown color, and of course the corduroy detailing. Since the pants already make such a statement, I kept the rest of the outfit simple with cropped pieces, sneakers, and a few black accessories for a more relaxed, edgy look.

I really love how this brown corduroy pants outfit came together, but the sizing is definitely where things got a little tricky. I ordered my normal size 10, and these pants are extremely oversized. At 5'1", they're also long enough to completely cover my sneakers and drag on the ground.

Even with the sizing issues, I'm keeping them because I love the overall look that much. Let's get into how I styled everything, how the pants actually fit, and what I would recommend knowing before you buy them.

How I styled these brown corduroy pants

Because the pants are so oversized, I knew I didn't want everything else in the outfit to have the same baggy fit. I wanted some dimension, so I went with cropped pieces on top and let the pants be the statement.

I started with a simple white cropped shirt

The white cropped shirt is also from SHEIN, and I'm wearing a size small. It has that classic dress-shirt look, just in a cropped version, and I really like how it fits.

I think the shorter length works especially well with these pants because there is already so much fabric happening on the bottom. It breaks everything up a little instead of having an oversized top competing with the oversized pants.

I added a black faux leather jacket for a little edge

Instead of keeping the outfit completely casual, I added this black faux leather cropped jacket from SHEIN. I'm wearing a size small, and it has a biker-jacket feel that gives the outfit a completely different vibe.

That's probably one of my favorite things about this look. The brown corduroy pants are relaxed and baggy, while the black faux leather adds a little edge. I also like that the jacket is cropped because, again, I wanted the pants to have their moment.

Let's talk about the fit of these oversized corduroy pants

Now, this is where I need to give you the tea on these pants because I definitely wouldn't order my regular size again.

I'm 5'1", around 138 pounds, and normally wear a size 10. I ordered these in a size 10, and they are extremely oversized on me. I like a baggy fit, so oversized pants normally aren't a problem for me, but these are so oversized that I'm constantly having to pull them up.

The length is another issue. They are extremely long on me and actually drag on the ground. They even cover most of my sneakers, which is a little disappointing because the sneakers were part of what pulled this whole outfit together.

If I were ordering these again, I would size down.

One thing I do love is the waistband

Even though I would change the size, I really like the waistband. The pants have a zipper-and-button closure, but there's also elastic in the waistband.

As someone who deals with waist gaping in pants, I always appreciate a little elastic. The waistband feels comfortable around my stomach, and the pants have some stretch too.

So, my issue isn't really with the design or comfort of the pants. It's the overall sizing and length. If I can get those two things right, I'm good.

The sneakers were supposed to pull all the colors together

Even though you can barely see them because of the pants' length, I'm wearing my Jordan 3 Desert Elephant sneakers with this outfit. They have black, brown, and tan throughout, so they were an easy choice for this look.

I love when I can pull colors from my sneakers into the rest of my outfit without everything matching exactly. The brown worked with the corduroy pants, while the black tied in with my jacket and bag. Plus, this is just one of those sneakers that works really well with neutral outfits.

If I get the pants hemmed, you'll actually be able to see them next time.

I kept the bag simple

For my bag, I went with a small black faux leather bag from Walmart. I didn't feel like this outfit needed a lot of accessories because there's already enough going on between the corduroy texture, oversized pants, and faux leather jacket.

The smaller black bag keeps everything simple while still giving me that slightly edgy look I was going for.

Are these brown corduroy pants actually comfortable?

Yes, but I think they would be a lot more comfortable in the correct size.

The corduroy material is lightweight and not heavy or stiff, which I like. I could definitely wear these for several hours if I wasn't constantly pulling them up because they're too big.

I also wouldn't consider these a super warm pair of corduroy pants. The material is on the thinner side, so I would keep that in mind depending on the weather. I personally see myself getting the most wear out of them when it's cool outside but not freezing.

Where I would wear this outfit

This is one of those outfits I could wear almost anywhere casual. I could easily wear it to grab coffee, go to brunch, head to the movies, or for a casual date night.

I especially like it for times when I want to be comfortable and relaxed but still look like I actually thought about my outfit. The oversized pants and sneakers keep it casual, while the cropped shirt and faux leather jacket make it feel a little more styled.

Would I keep these pants?

I am keeping them, but they need some work.

If you're considering these brown corduroy pants from SHEIN, my biggest recommendation is to size down. My normal size 10 is way too oversized on me, and at 5'1", the length is also a problem.

Since I really like the pants themselves, I'd rather take mine to a tailor and have them taken in and hemmed than get rid of them. I love the brown color, corduroy texture, elastic waistband, and the way they make such a statement without me having to do much else with the outfit.

I would style them again with another cropped top, maybe even a cropped denim shirt. With pants this baggy, I like having something shorter and a little more fitted on top to balance everything out.

These brown corduroy pants were just one of the pieces I styled in my SHEIN fashion haul. If you want to see the other pieces I picked up and how I put the outfits together, you can watch the full video below.

I'll definitely be wearing these pants again once I get the sizing situation together. The outfit came out exactly how I wanted it to, and I love the mix of the oversized corduroy pants with the cropped pieces and sneakers. Next stop for these pants, though, is definitely the tailor.
