Panera has a new three-cheese lasagna soup: I tried it and it's absolutely incredible.

The lasagna soup trend turned classic basked lasagna into a soup, and now Panera has turned that into lunch delivery.

Panera's new Three-Cheese Lasagna Soup (Panera)

Lasagna has always been among my favorite foods. It's what I would request from my mom every year on my birthday or when it was a special occasion and we were celebrating. But it's not something we'd make more often than that. Lasagna is delicious, but it's also time-consuming and could be rather tedious, with all the intricate layering that goes into this baked dish.

But, as often happens, a few years ago, social media changed everything. Suddenly, food content creators were everywhere, creating a deconstructed version of lasagna, in soup form. You get all the same ingredients, from the noodles to the tomatoes to the ground meat and cheese, but in a hearty soup rather than a baked casserole. It saved so much time and yet was somehow just as delicious and satisfying.

Well, now it's gotten even better. Panera has launched their new seasonal menu update, and it includes the Three-Cheese Lasagna Soup, available beginning September 2. This soup includes Italian-inspired sausage, lasagna ribbon pasta, and parmesan cheese, in a ricotta tomato broth topped with asiago cheese. It's absolutely a perfect representation of baked lasagna, turned into a one-bowl meal. (Except I'd absolutely enjoy multiple bowls of this if I could.)

It tastes just as you want a hearty, meaty, and cheesy lasagna to taste, except you don't have to do any work or clean a bunch of pots and pans. It's perfection.

The soup is a limited-time seasonal offering, as much of Panera's rotating seasonal menu tends to be, but something tells me this one will be a keeper.
