Sip and stay: Sonoma's newly renovated Vinarosa Resort & Spa is a wine country gem

The only downside of my stay at Vinarosa Resort & Spa in Sonoma is that I was there for only one night. So I stayed up late to make the most of every moment of the experience. A few years ago, I stayed at this Santa Rosa property when it was called the Vinters Resort & Spa, and I was eager to revisit it after hearing that it was acquired by Jackson Family Wines in 2023, in partnership with Ensemble Investments. The property reopened in 2025 with more than just a new name; it underwent a $15 million makeover.

The property already had good bones, but the upgrades are impressive. Vinarosa has 78 rooms and suites, and my room was spacious and beautifully decorated. It felt modern and luxurious yet serene, with natural sunlight streaming in. And there's plenty to do at the 92-acre estate: yoga classes in the working vineyard, a spa, pool, walking trails, and more.

There was more than enough space in the bathroom for all of my lotions and potions. And the bathtub shelf also included reading material that was perfect for the wine country setting — Jancis Robinson's The 24-Hour Wine Expert . Full-service dining is available at Vinarosa's John Ash Restaurant, where I enjoyed a fresh, tasty salad for lunch.

For dinner, I opted for room service; it felt absolutely decadent to nosh on Birria tacos in a plush robe while sipping a glass of Chardonnay.
