We went to Norwegian Cruise Line's new Great Tides Waterpark. Here's 5 things you can't miss.

Over the last two years, we've been on a handful of cruises to the Bahamas and Alaska . Most recently, we went on a sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line to check out their new Great Tides Waterpark. We had a chance to check out the water park ahead of its official opening which is later this week. Let us just say there's so much to do and see at the waterpark that you'll want to book another cruise just so you can do it all again. 

If your next cruise stops at Great Stirrup Cay, then you'll want to make reservations for Great Tides Waterpark and check out these five can't miss offerings. 

First, you'll want to stop by Tidal Tower which is home to eight waterslides. 

You can't go to a waterpark without going down a waterslide. You can't miss Tidal Tower which stands tall at the center of the park and is the location of eight water slides for thrill seekers on vacation. 

Some of the most popular waterslides here include Tropic Spiral which is the world's first Nautilus slide and Breakwater Blasters which has uphill propulsion, drops and twists. Keep in mind that Breakwater Blasters requires parties of two so you'll want to have a friend or family member down for the fun before you climb up the steps. 

While you're in the area, you'll definitely want to take a picture in front of the 170-foot-tall centerpiece which is super photogenic and highly Instagrammable if we say so ourselves. 

Next, you'll want to head over to the cliff jumps. These are the tallest in the Caribbean. 

Adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers will want to head over to Cliffside Cove to experience the tallest cliff jumps in the Caribbean. Here you'll find 10 and 15-foot cliffs that you can jump off of or watch other people do it. We didn't cliff jump, however, we did find it quite entertaining to watch other people do it. 

For a slower adventure, you'll want to visit Wandering River. This is an elevated take on a lazy river. 

This is what we were most excited for when visiting Great Tides Waterpark. We'll be the first to say this is a must-do while visiting. It has a bit of speed compared to a traditional lazy river with powerful jets to propel you along, but the real fun comes from the immersive tunnel that has stunning visuals and relaxing music as you move through it. It's over 800-feet long so you can spend hours doing laps here while soaking in the sun. 

If you have kids, then you'll want to stop by Splash Cay for water activities and mini slides. 

For kids and even adults who prefer less intense water activities, then Splash Cay is the place to go. Here you'll find more than 9,000 square feet of family water activities — yes, adults can go down the eight mini slides and a 300-gallon oversized tipping bucket. You'll know it's about to tip over when the bell rings a few times — it's quite an epic event that you don't want to miss. 

Lastly, stop by for a quick bite at the food trucks that are exclusive to the waterpark. 

After exploring the waterpark all day, you will have built up an appetite. You'll want to check out one of the three new dining offerings at Great Tides Waterpark including Low Tide Smoke, Catch of the Cay and Tidal Treats. 

We tried the buffalo cauliflower, chicken bites and the ice cream and they were all pretty good. It's a bit pricey and is an additional cost so you'll want to consider that before placing an order. Out of everything we ate, we thought the ice cream was the most worth it because it's ultra-refreshing and different from what you'll find on the ship. 

Overall, Great Tides Waterpark is fun for the whole family and a great place to spend time when at Great Stirrup Cay.

If you don't want to book an excursion swimming with pigs, then you'll want to get tickets to Great Tides Waterpark. Now, it is a pretty penny at $99 per person which is pricey, however, it's a fun activity to do when the sun is shining and you want to cool down.
