Students learn through a combination of private lessons , group classes, and practice parties with a focus on one-on-one dance instruction. MOVE. SING. DRUM. DANCE! Welcome to Cumbe, the new home for dance and drumming. Our classes are fun and energetic (a great way to beat the workout blahs) and we welcome all levels. Classes for adults range from traditional (W. African, Afro-Caribbean, etc.) to contemporary (Modern, Dancehall/Reggae and Hip Hop.). We also offer dance fitness classes and percussion workshops with world-class musicians. Children also love the high-energy world of dance with African roots. Classes for ages 1-5 introduce young ones to creative movement and rhythm through a combination of games, song, story-telling, drumming, and tumbling. We also host camps and birthday parties for all ages (contact us to plan a party you won't forget) and provide master artists for performances and teaching engagements.
Mark Morris is a well-known name in the world of dance, and his dance group has given some wonderful performances both in the United States and Europe. The Mark Morris Dance Center was established in 2001, and since then has been the permanent home of the company. Dance and music classes for people of all ages are also held here. The seven studios can also be rented by other dance companies.
