We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving the community in more ways than just providing a safe space to exercise.
Founded in 1965, Shasta Head Start Child Development is a nonprofit agency that provides child care and social services to income-eligible children and their families. The agency offers opportunities for education, parenting support and resources to families in its communities. It oversees a professional staff of more than 200 employees. Shasta Head Start Child Development administers Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Head Start is a national program that includes activities for the mental, emotional, social and physical growth of preschool children, as well as provides social services for the families of enrolled children. Shasta Head Start Child Development s programs also feature parent involvement, child development education, social services, and medical and dental screenings.
Since 1984 Youth & Family Programs has been providing a supportive, safe, and stable environment for foster families and foster children. We work with children age infant to 21 years old who have been detained by Butte and Shasta County. We also offer Transitional Housing and the Independent Living Program for our youth in extended foster care. Anyone who is safe, stable, adult, married, or single with room in their hearts and home for children in need can become a foster parent. You must be willing to be responsible for the care of a foster child, be willing to become a part of our team, and be able to meet the Community Care Licensing requirements.
