Main-Transit Fire Department

Founded in 1936, the Main-Transit Fire Department is a voluntary organization that provides emergency medical and fire and motor vehicle rescue services to residents of Amherst in New York. The department is comprised of a ladies auxiliary, exempt association, explorers post and active members. The Main-Transit Fire Department also works with neighboring departments when mutual aid services are required. It serves residents spread over an area of more than 5 square miles. The department s apparatus includes engines and rescue and utility trucks. It participates in the Northern Erie County Fireman's Softball League. The Main-Transit Fire Department additionally supports various charitable initiatives.

Kenilworth Fire

The Kenilworth Amusement Driving Park flourished during 1905-1908 in the the Southwest ( "Duck Town" ) section of the Town Of Tonawanda. In the year 1919 a group of men met in a house in this district and founded Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Incorporated.
