Love this little gallery. Patrick and Helen have done a wonderful job on making this a destination place when you're in the area. The gardens are gorgeous and the art work is second to none. Patrick's copper work is just stunning.

This gallery is amazing and the grounds are spectacular. If we have guests in the area, we always take them to Forest Edge.

Local artists display very high quality work in my opinion. Copper work seems to be less expensive than in the AZ, NM, tourist area.

Drive five miles (or maybe eight) from the Minnesota resort town of Vergas following country roads that you'd swear will lead to nowhere. Suddenly out of the treesy thickets--an art gallery and formally landscaped sculpture garden! That's the surprise of Forest Edge Gallery in northwest Minnesota lake country. It grew from an artist's family farmstead into an unexpected but intriguing collection of contemporary art and sculpture. Mostly it's sculpture as the proprietor, Patrick Shannon, works in copper and other metals, welding right on the grounds. His large outdoor pieces define a sculpture garden that includes a pond, bridge, trickling stream and old stone farm house. In particular check out his metal sculptured gas grills. Not so cheap, but first in your neighborhood, guaranteed. The gallery building itself is heavy on sculptured metalwork, but also features work of several well-known regional artists. Forest Edge Gallery closes during Minnesota's snowiest months (New Year's-Memorial Day). And one tip from the gallery attendant: If you follow the gallery's suggested route, it's five miles from Vergas. Follow your GPS's route and it's eight miles.
