tripadvisorI found the DCU center staff to be wildly unprofessional and downright unfriendly. From my arrival there with my work crew we were greeted by grumpy staff who stopped me in my tracks from going up the escalator with my tool case saying that luggage is not allowed on the escalator and that I needed to use the elevator at the end of the building instead. After our event, I was responsible for making sure our trucks left with the right equipment. This meant going into the loading area and getting yelled at by security that I could not be there since I was not DCU Staff. When I told him I was advanced staff for my company and responsible for the equipment that needed to get loaded onto the truck, they were highly dismissive and told me that I needed to wait outside. So I did.I waited for our Malk Truck to show up and then I went back inside to help the driver load the truck up. Once the truck was loaded up safely and ready to leave, I made it a point to go over to the security window and thank those guys for their help. They were not amused and pointed at the door for me to leave. Not sure I feel about having to come back here again next year for the same event, but work is work and the show must go on.
MoreSat in section 201 The seating is so steep you feel like you will fall over at any time .there are no hand rails to hold onto .going up and down stairs is a horror show. The walk way going to your seats are very narrow and you have a hard time getting down the row to your seat. Also good luck trying to find the mens room . This place might be good for a hockey game .but that's about it.
MoreVery important college hockey game on 3/26/26 delayed 20 minutes due to incompetence of ice staff replacing pane of glass around rink.A group of about six people couldn't figure it out.Teams had warmed up came out for start and had to go back to locker rooms.Very unprofessional for such a venue.Scoreboard is weak,no replays and no shots on net.Pick a different location next year.
MoreDo not book seating in the upper tier seating sections. Stairs are very steep with no railings for safe climbing. There is no way this venue meets building code for this issue.People climbing stairs were asking folks in aisle seats if they could place their hands on their arms or shoulders to get steady in their climb up the stairs.
MoreIf an event is coming to the area and there are multiple venues, I would never pick DCU Center again. Although there is parking right next door, which is very convenient, the rest of the experience was rough. They didn't open the doors for our event until 2 pm, with an event time of 3 pm. The result was very slowly moving, long lines. Not good for someone who has trouble standing for long periods of time. Thankfully Ticketmaster emailed me the purse policy and I also saw it on the DCU website, but several people had to run back to their cars to leave their purses since the policy is no bigger than 8x10. Fortunately for them, they had time to go back to the parking garage, leave their purse, and return back to the same exact spot because the line hadn't moved.Entering in the doors, you need to open your purse and apparently lift your purse over your head as you walk through the metal detector. It felt like we were criminals being processed in jail.Once in the facility we were all jam packed in there together and moving was extremely difficult. Concession stands were impossible. Then if you are in an upper row, there is no railing, which was very difficult for our family member who uses a cane. We found our seats and the event started 10 min late because the people were still filing in. Even when the event started, people were coming in late, couldn't find their seats because there's not much for labeling. Then there was the woman who was arguing with a family that they were in her seats. She felt like she needed to stand in front of all of us to talk to them instead of sitting down. After a couple of minutes, I finally shouted to her to sit down. The other people moved so I don't know if they were in her seats or they just gave up and found somewhere else to sit. The event itself was very nice. We saw TSO and wow, what an amazing show! Despite the fact thar DCU is a terrible facility with poor organizing skills, we left happy because of an awesome show! We sat in section 213, row G. The event is very expensive so this was the best seat to accommodate our family size at an affordable price. I definitely would not go to 214 or any of the 300 in the side section.
