I love the theater, the shows, the location, but I’ve decided I can’t never go there again. The legroom is that bad, no joke, they have got to rip out the old seats and replace them entirely. Maybe it’s about money.

I spent over $1,000 on tickets for the Simon & Garfunkel Story on Easter Sunday. The ushers are unbelievably rude. We were in the lobby only 5 minutes after the end of the show, waiting for the restroom, and the ushers were screaming at us that the theatre is now closed and everyone must leave IMMEDIATELY. I have never been treated so badly at any theatre anywhere in the world. Shameful. The theatre itself is spectacular but it doesn't matter at all when the staff are so horrendous. I will never go back.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the theatre. Suffs was a great show, and I would most definitely recommend it and/or the theatre to anyone.

After spending over $1800 for tickets for 8 in my family, the theater would not compensate us for a poor experience (one of us moved 3 times - usher fault).Customer experience poor - even after writing to 5 people on the Emerson Colonial team.

We came to this theatre to see Parade (fantastic yet heartbreaking musical) and had an overall great time here, with a couple of caveats. This gorgeous theatre is 125 years old and is the oldest continuously-operated theatre in Boston, and you can feel the age in the beauty of the physical space - everything is gorgeous and luminous in a way that they don't make theatre anymore. The staff were friendly and took obvious pride in the space. They offer tours of the theatre every month for $20, which sounds intriguing - I'd be interested in learning more about the history of this theatre. However, with the age of the theatre comes drawbacks, mainly that the seats are really cramped. We sat in the dress circle section (halfway between the orchestra and the balcony) and the seats are pretty tight, so if you have any issues with small seating, I would recommend asking about other accommodations. The building also doesn't have elevators to the higher seating (dress circle and balcony), so if you need assistance climbing the stairs, you should look for orchestra seating. Also, because this building is so old, they also don't have a coat check, which can be an issue in the colder months (especially with the cramped seating).
