tripadvisorGreat experience overall. Hotel is about 20 mins drive from all the Memphis sights and downtown which was exactly what we wanted. If you want to be in the Beale st action this isn’t the place. It’s in a quiet part of town and very close to restaurants and shops including Whole Foods. Corner King room is very spacious with a wall of windows. Room has nice natural light but the room got quite warm because of the many windows and high heat outdoors. There’s a fridge in the room. Professional helpful staff. Lots of self parking - you have to pay using a QR code. There’s a bar in the lobby with happy hour. Seems to be lots of business travelers. Highly recommend.
MoreWe’ve stayed here a couple times in the recent past and both times have been less than adequate. One stay we checked in and the TV did not work, had to change rooms. Most recently, door to room did not properly close, wall thermostat did not work, used unit controls which are under a cabinet with limited light, ice makers were not working, dim light in shower area, TV worked, but could not change channels, coffee maker had no tray to place coffee packet in, much later, found (black) tray on the floor (on dark carpet). Computer in common area didn’t work, staff printed documents we needed. When we checked in we were reminded of breakfast hours, but no mention of evening hours at a time when we would have expected the bistro to be open. By all appearances, it seemed the hotel was understaffed. That aside, the room was comfortable and staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. We’re loyal to Marriott and hope any future stay would be more satisfactory.
MoreStayed at this hotel for a conference. The room was clean. I like it very cold when I sleep and since I was staying with someone else who Likes it polar and when I asked for an extra blanket they didn’t have any. The hotel air quality was terrible, o think they were cleaning the center some mold. They had a wonderful breakfast and lunch area. The food was very well maintained and the server Terrance was the best thing about the hotel. He was super friendly. He was super on top of his service and very very polite. Highly recommend eating and asking for Terrance.
MoreEverything about our stay was great - we spent most of our time on the hotel property enjoying all of our meals there. Very good service by every member of the staff. Front desk, bartender, wait staff in the restaurant housekeeping, maintenance, management and security. People went out of their way to make sure you had what you need. No big things, just lots of little things. Basically it was the way “it should be” but seldom is. Look forward to coming back.
MoreI am a frequent traveler and have stayed at this hotel four times. This is a hotel that struggles with traffic noise, hot water and consistent service. One half of the hotel has extremely high traffic noise; the other half has moderate traffic noise. Make sure to ask for a room on the quiet side—they don’t automatically assign these to their most frequent or highest status guests. You will hear late night / middle of the night motorcycles and drag racing on both sides; you will hear it unmitigated through old windows on the noisy side.If you take a shower between 6-7:30AM, you have a 50/50 chance on a hot shower, most often I got a luke-warm shower in the morning. Yesterday at 6:30 I got cold water that improved to a “cold pool” temperature by the end of the 3 minutes that was my personal limit at that temperature. Last night we also lost power for 3+ hours. No storms in the area. No communication about the issue. The loss of power also took out my A/C on a humid 80 degree Memphis night. I woke up soaking in sweat several times. When the power came back on at 2:30AM, my room lit up like a Christmas tree from the lights I had fumbled to turn on in the dark. The hallway ceilings are 7 feet. What were once (I assume) popcorn ceilings have been properly scraped although there was a ceiling crack in my 5th floor room this week. An attempt has been made to update the rooms, but one week I had a caved-in King bed and in all rooms the sliding door for the bathroom / closet makes it such that either your bathroom door or your closet is always open. The TV and remote are old issue. The neighborhood is a high traffic area and I assume the area is somewhat unsafe because there is always security with flashing lights in the parking lot. I appreciate safety. But you will pay an extra $12/night for the service if you park a car in this expansive, flat and typical suburban location parking lot with no gate. The club lounge is a mostly standard option that doesn’t properly refill (or misjudges consumption of) snacks and water. In the evening, the snacks are picked over and I didn’t find a single entree dish worth trying any of the four weeks. Cookies are fresh down in the lobby. At breakfast, the bread drawers went two full weeks with only raisin bread and wheat bagels—i assumed they ran out of the English muffins, white and wheat bread that were also there the first two weeks I stayed. The hotel gym is decent but like the club lounge inconsistent. The space is well ventilated and bright. They ran out of earbuds for their cardio equipment this week.Service is generally friendly unless you share that you wish you didn’t have to keep asking for a room on the quiet side of the building—the check-in process for me this third week I asked was a little “testy”. There are good food options in the area. The hotel bar is good, food decent.Overall I shared with Marriott that I would not recommend this hotel at this time.
