tripadvisorThis bed and breakfast was so incredibly lovely. The bed was comfy and the breakfasts were delectable. The owners are awesome people and very welcoming. Eric, one of the owners, even loaned my husband a bow tie for our event. The furniture was also just gorgeous.
MoreEric was the most wonderful host for our stay this past week. He was accommodating, communicative, and friendly. He was so knowledgeable about the area and was able to give us great recommendations for activities and restaurants near the B&B. The house was gorgeous and so well maintained. There was antique architecture as well as modern refurbishments. This was the epitome of the perfect B&B and we’ll definitely be back if we ever come back to the area. Much admiration to Eric and Judy
MoreWe enjoyed our stay at Prospect Place very much - and it was much less expensive than other options, especially hotels. The house and room were very comfortable and nicely kept and Eric was an excellent and helpful host. The breakfast was very good also and the company around the breakfast table was good.Transport links are fine if you can walk a couple of hundred yards (we can!)Very good supermarket/deli over the road.All-in-all excellent accommodation and well worth it.
MoreWhat an unfortunate stay. We stayed with Eric about three weeks ago for a babymoon getaway. Two days before arriving Eric called me and said that he would be at dinner at our time of arrival (which he knew about since July when I booked). Eric ensured me he would email me over the keypad information so that we would be able to get into the house. The day we were arriving I still had not received any information about the keypad. I called 5 times that day with no answer or return call! We boarded our flight to Boston anxious about our arrival. When we landed, I was relieved to see a text from Eric with the information about getting into the house (he did not address the fact that I was trying to get in touch with him all day, just sent a generic text about getting into the house). We arrived to Prospect Place at 7:30PM; it was already dark. We tried the keypad, and the passcode did not work. We were beyond exhausted, cold, and at a loss what to do. I called Eric, no answer, I texted him, no response back. My husband was extremely upset especially with me bring pregnant. We were forced to then go elsewhere for the night having to pay an exuberant amount of money for the last min booking. Eric finally texted (not called) me 2 hours later! His text simply read sorry, I'm home now if that helps. We waited until the following morning to go back over to the Prospect Place to speak to Eric and check in (I was mistaken in thinking we had already been charged for the room and did not want to be out another night). Upon arrival, Eric did not address the issue but rather ignored the elephant in the room so to speak. My husband ensured me he would speak to Eric later. We checked in and had no further issues until the following morning at breakfast. At breakfast (the day we were to check out) it was just my husband, Eric and myself. Eric not once brought up compensating us for the trouble. After a long breakfast (we really were hoping he would do the right thing and broch the topic with us first) my husband asked him what he planned on doing regarding the situation. Eric admitted fault in not setting the code correctly for the keypad and said he would not charge us for the night we were locked out but he would charge us for the one night we stayed. I was shocked!! I'll leave it there, no business sense whatsoever. Was $185 really worth a negative review and an unhappy customer?
MoreThis is a grand old house full of character. We had a great stay for 4 nights - the larger room on the second floor with shared bathroom down the hall but we had it to ourselves for 2 days, hardly noticed anyone else using it. Eric was a relaxed and friendly host. Breakfasts were varied and tasty, we enjoyed meeting other guests in the dining room. If you needed anything, you just had to ask. Location: our room faced the main street so there was some traffic noise in the early morning, but you quickly got used to it. The area in Cambridge was ideal for walking to Harvard or MIT, and there are some great restaurants in walking distance. Travelling to Boston city centre was easy from the subway station, about 5 minutes walk from the B&B. There's a great health food & local produce grocery store just over the road too! Eric was always on hand to give tips and directions, and advised us on where to park our car (there's no onsite parking), giving us a resident parking permit so our car stayed just around the corner on a quiet side street.
