tripadvisorA reunion of friends brought us back to Boston and Cambridge and we decided to stay overnight at this Hampton Inn; we are Silver Members with them and usually it’s a reliable good experience. We knew it was near a highway, but it was also close to our destination and had underground parking, a big plus in a city. Our check-in went flawlessly. We parked our car in the garage and took our suitcases up to our room in the garage elevator. This Hampton has digital keys and lets members change their rooms a few hours in advance from unassigned ones. I had noted with dismay we seemed to be near the elevator and on the highway, which I had a standing request to avoid, but the ones available in our category were no better. We made no changes. Our one queen-bed room was clean but it was small, old, dark and depressing. There was no closet; instead there was a freestanding wardrobe. Our window overlooked the busy inner city highway. Sigh. The bathroom was renovated, spotless, with a walk in shower. We were late to our function, so put stuff down and were on our way.We came back at 11 p.m. and there was a line all backed up to the garage. There was a key reader but it seemed not to be working. We asked a man walking by was there a problem, and he said the garage is full, don’t go down there because it’s a mess of cars trying to turn around. Surprise! Not what we expected at this late hour. Nothing had been said at check-in about limited parking.I got out and asked the man at the front desk what are we supposed to do? He casually said there’s a city parking garage near the shopping mall a 10” walk away for $35/all night. No address, no name of the street, you’re on your own. Very disappointing. Our navigation found the Galleria mall and finally the parking garage. It was a 20” walk back to the hotel through an urban landscape of highways, overpasses, etc. We finally got to our room at 11:30pm. Bring ear plugs if you stay here because all night the fire engines and police sirens were wailing.I talked to the front desk clerk in the morning about our experience last night. She listened, nodded attentively as trained and offered nothing. I’ve never heard from management. We won’t be back.
MoreA wonderful hotel! Very clean, and the staff are smiling and always ready to help. Even though it is small, it is very cozy and kept in perfect order. It is located in a very convenient spot: right next to the train station, and you can easily walk to downtown Boston along a pleasant route in about 25–30 minutes.Breakfast was complimentary.Highly recommended!
MoreI actually never stayed at this hotel. I made a reservation using Hilton Honors points (where I am Diamond level) for 2 nights in early July. Cost: 140,000 points.Apparently it was a non refundable, non changable, non editable, and non cancelable reservation. I made it in haste on my i phone and never dreamed that there was even such a thing. We were planning a trip to an island off of Maine and were adding 2 days in Boston after flying into Logan. I had no idea that there would be World Cup events there in July, The franchise owner declared it to be some kind of special event with special terms.I paid with POINTS. 140,000I had to pay in DOLLARS as a NO SHOW: over $700I had been communicating with the hotel since April (when we decided not to go to Maine) trying to reason with them ---- not understanding how, 3 months before the event, they would not do anything. I mean, look up the definition of HOSPITALITY to see what I mean.Skip forward: Then around the time of the reservation, I received an email stating that the credit card on file was not active and unless I contacted the hotel, they would cancel my reservation. That's what I had been asking for since April. Skip forward:Later in July, I went to make a couple of Hilton reservations using points for the Ashville, NC area. I had trouble with the app and called Hilton. That's when I learned that my Honors points (about a million give or take) had been suspended until the bill got paid, and it was possible they could close my account and cancel all my points.I had never been informed that my account was suspended. Later I learned that an email regarding this was sent, but not to me.Many sources estimate the value of a point to be about 1/2 of a cent. So, my points were likely worth $4000 or more, and there was no way to get them released until I paid the hotel for a room I never used, a room they never had to clean, no free breakfast, or water, or anything. They knew in April that my plans had changed. All my points were held. The 140,000 points had been returned to my account. I relented, and reluctantly, paid them with my hard earned dollars.I should add that Hilton corporate was duly advised with a lengthy letter and several exhibits sent to 2 senior VP's. That was forwarded to an escalation person who worked with me, but as an independent franchise, it appears corporate could not tell them what to do. They did give me 50,000 points though. In summary, in my 71 years on the planet, this senseless lack of customer service and sensitivity left enough of a poor taste that I just spent 2 hours (hunt and peck) telling my story,Want to know more?
MoreWe chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the train station going to downtown Boston and its great value especially for families. We like Hampton Inn amenities such as free breakfast, free parking and has a laundry. Our room, breakfast/ lounge areas and halls were clean. All Staff were friendly. We never had an issue during our 5 night stay.
MoreGreen Line T-station and incredibly close to the North End and Boston Common. Because of the heat and humidity, we relied a lot on rideshares, which were both quick and surprisingly affordable from the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortably accommodated three people. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful—especially the breakfast team, who did an amazing job keeping everything stocked with a smile.A huge bonus was the free parking! It allowed us to pick up our rental car early in the morning and leave it parked safely until our 11:00 AM checkout. Plus, it’s a convenient 10-minute walk to a shopping center to the north and a mall with great restaurants on First Street to the south. Highly recommend!
