I went to see the Gorky exhibit, which I enjoyed, but I was also extremely impressed by the Karsh photographs and the very detailed exhibit about the Armenian genocide about which I knew very little.

It's a beautiful layout and I liked that they had both Armenian American artists and also artifacts and antiques. Staff was super friendly. The genocide section looked like it was shoved in a corner. But it had good information. So sad...

The museum is a good place to learn about Armenian history and culture! Make time for a visit.

The museum is an absolute treasure - well organized, priced, and curated. We were impressed by Arshille Gorky’s and Yusuf Kharsh exhibits, but the whole museum is wonderful. You can take a stroll along the river after the culture boost.

The Armenian Museum of America may be a little off the beaten Boston tourist path, but it’s a detour well worth making. For a $15 donation (less if you're a student, senior, or under 18), you gain access to a treasure trove of exhibits that offer something for just about everyone: from striking cultural artifacts to a world-class photography gallery featuring Yousuf Karsh (yes, the Armenian behind those iconic portraits of Churchill and Hemingway), to a powerful and deeply moving account of the Armenian Genocide. One of my favorite sections featured stunning medieval manuscripts that somehow survived centuries of war, upheaval, and international travel, and still manage to impress.A current exhibit on the legacy of Varujan Boghosian was a delightful surprise. I hadn’t heard of him before, but his work had a wonderfully playful spirit that made me smile.I also had a great chat with Nareg and Nicole, two enthusiastic staff members whose knowledge and passion for the museum were absolutely contagious. It’s fascinating, affordable, and if you’re even remotely nearby, do yourself a favor and make the stop.
