tripadvisorThe facility should be demolished and rebuilt, as it is decrepit and possibly dangerous. The outer courts (particularly Harris court) look as though they could collapse under a full load of spectators. Parking for the day is ridiculously expensive ($50) but there is no Metro nearby and bus service is difficult to comprehend. There is an insufficient police or traffic-warden presence, so you can sit on 16th Street for an hour waiting to turn into the parking lot, unless you arrive very early in the morning. The toilets beneath the main Fitzgerald Stadium are too few, too old, and too prone to flooding -- and also airless. Rust in the rafters is visible everywhere around the stadium. People dump food into the hydration stations, as though they were kitchen sinks, and the stations are not regularly cleaned. The tournament is poorly organized and tickets are vastly overpriced. Some ushers know when to allow spectators into the stands and others do not, resulting in confused and angry spectators. Signage is poor, especially for the outside courts. Food and drink options ($13.50 for a cappuccino) are severely overpriced. There is no way to escape the heat and humidity, unless you have paid extra for a suite, but from the suites you cannot see the tennis well; they are too far from the stadium court and seem to be designed mostly for folks who want to drink and socialize. Some big-name players do appear here, but I cannot understand why, given the abysmal state of the facility.
MoreThe day session was fun. At around 5 pm I left and I was not allowed back in because the night session ticket was needed. On the website the night session starts at 7 pm.
MoreAbsolutely terrible. The tournament is located in the National Park so that when it rains, the Park shuts down all grass parking which causes a nightmare. The viewing at the outside courts is subpar. It is the worst tennis stadium in the US.
MoreIf you never need to use the restroom nice experience. I suspect the number of restrooms is not up to code for an event like this. Pay a high ticket price and spend 30 minutes plus waiting for a restroom after a 20 minute walk cool.
MoreLoved the Citi open. Especially the smaller courts where I could see Andy and Jamie murray really close unlike bigger events.
