tripadvisorOur stay was a welcome step back in time. The inn was beautifully kept very clean and with so much attention to detail. Nora was an awesome host, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, too! Definitely going back soon.
MoreEverything you'd want in a bed & breakfast. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and had a great history. The inn keepers were incredibly warm, thoughtful and clearly enjoy making their guests feel welcome. We didn't mind the shared baths (and I think some rooms have private baths). Will be back next year!
MoreIt may be me, I assumed that $220 + cost would get me some luxury, such as private bath and shower. Not here! I’m not discouraging anyone from going to an historic inn because it brings me pleasure. Perhaps I’m trying to encourage the owners to up their standards. I don’t want people to fail, I felt guilt throughout my stay at the place because I gave the owner push back. I’m usually very positive, give good reviews, this is my first bad one. Booked through Hotels.com. Did not pay attention to all the details, my fault, I’m too busy. $220. + taxes for a very small bedroom, double bed, tight, no TV, decent Wi-Fi, shared bathroom and shower with an unknown number of people! Prices go up for toilet in bed room and more some for both toilet and shower-$400+(!). What is good? Well it’s near beach, they said they had a private beach, but where? Not promoted! Then, the public areas are lovely and very spacious, to a point when I ask I why not increase room sizes and comfort? The breakfast was ok. Nice baked good’s, fruits, yogurt, continental. But host did not keep up with refilling coffee, emptying trash and tiny dish returns. Small, but irritating when you had to call Hotels.com to make sure their payment method is secure. You have to communicate repeatedly with owner to realize that standard payment methods is not adhered to. No, she prefers Square.com! I’m not the most informed about the new payment methods, so no, I’m not comfortable paying this way without chechick with Hotels.com. That took abou 45 miles minutes! All in all, I think this place has old charm, that needs to catch up with service standards and customer services. Don’t make me take extra steps, you did, I don’t like it!
MoreI've stayed at the location several times over the years and it never disappoints. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and beautiful views from every side of the building. A family run business for more than 40 years with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The location is ideal for families with the beach and harbor in walking distance. I had my two small children with me and they were NEVER bored during our stay. We will be making the trip for years to come.
MoreI love this place. There is no noise or light pollution. There are no TVs. There is no AC. There is no pretension and nothing boutique-y. The rooms are clean with painted wood floors and rag rugs and nice views and comfortable beds. It is a great place to relax between strolls on the beach (2 blocks away, and uncrowded) and visits to friends. You can eat breakfast (excellent croissants!) on the back porch and watch the sea or the birds vying for a perch on the bird feeder. You can read a book in a massage chair in a parlor. Or sit on the front porch sofa and talk with your sweetie and wave to intrepid cyclists moving slowly up the hill. We saw a long beautiful meteor streak through the Milky Way from atop the huge glacial boulder which shelters the inn on one side. One 21st century update: You can charge your electric car under the solar panelled carport.
