tripadvisorA treasure house of used books from quirky to classic topics floor to ceiling and the owner Russ can take you to about any book or topic you are looking for. No, it's not your corporate or upper-yuppie bookstore but something unique, original where words and images have been valued and preserved, no surprise it's close to the art museum. Iconic. Make it part of your journey to Portland and your self.
MoreWhen I visit a city, I always try to find a used bookstore to browse because you never know you might find. Yes Books was pretty standard as such places go: shelves packed with books on a variety of subjects, a selection that was decent but not special. I walked out with the same amount of money as I walked in, largely because there was nothing that especially stood out. But if you’re looking for used books you could do worse than to spend 20-30 minutes browsing the store to see what you might find.
MoreThe storefront is a little deceiving. This place is just too ramshackle. Books from floor to ceiling, disorganized, dark, very narrow aisles, bookcases that look like they're ready to topple over, little nooks and crannies made out of piles of books -- I like a little quirkiness, but this was crazy. A diehard bibliophile might want to spend a few hours here, but he or she would need a flashlight to read the titles on the book spines. It's not for the typical book browser. It does have tons of old books and out-of-print magazines, but the framed prints that I saw looked more like what you'd see at a flea market. And, I don't know what was up with that little fake lobster in a bird cage.
MoreThis is a well stocked, well curated used bookshop, with some rare and collectible titles. Super friendly and helpful staff who know their stock. Street parking. Support your local Bookseller!
