The people that work here are lovely but the hotel seems very understaffed. We were here for a weekend around a concert for my daughter’s birthday. A conference, Contractor Nation, took over the entire hotel. It was very uncomfortable to stay here with this going on and I think they should really let other guests know about this ahead of time. It was a rowdy bunch and completely changed the feel of the hotel. We left all of Saturday for some shopping and returned to find our room had still not been made up. We called and they confirmed they are running behind schedule- again due to understaffing. Bed was not comfortable, basically a thin sheet and no blanket. When we asked for a blanket, we got a thin pilled blanket that provided no comfort. Totally underwhelmed and very disappointed. Sort of spoiled the weekend a bit. We would never stay again and makes me rethink staying with other Marriott resorts.

We visited over Labor Day weekend, when the hotel and, it seemed, much of the city itself was dead. Even so, the hotel was certainly under no obligation to upgrade my partner and I to the Presidential suite and to comp the adjoining room for our daughter. In many years of Marriott stays as a Platinum, no elite recognition as even come close. I'm sure that people staying during a convention will have a different experience, but ours could not have been improved upon. The Platinum benefit included buffet for two in the restaurant, which included an omelet chef. The buffet was especially generous for the price, surpassing a typical Marriott breakfast buffet. Real maple syrup was provided along with individual glass containers of jam and ketchup. There was also a full array of fixings for bagels, including lox, onions, capers, tomatoes, and cucumbers. If I ever return to Hartford, there is no question that this is hotel where we will stay. Thanks to GM Tina Fleming and her entire staff. Your generosity was much appreciated.

When attending events in Hartford, we always stay here. The hotel is nice, and the people are amazingly nice. All of them. From the parking attendants to the front desk and restaurants. The standout is Sandy in the lounge/ restaurant. Each visit she is there, all smiles and welcoming people. She works the room well, making sure everyone is all set. Even when our toddler spilled a beer, she quickly came over to help clean it up. The second night, she remembered my name and our drinks from the day before! Thank you Sandy!Hotel was clean, beds really nice. Food at the buffet was good as was the service. Overall the hotel is pretty quiet.

I am surprised that there are so many rave reviews. This hotel certainly doesn't deserve a bad review-but the rave reviews made me think we would have an entirely different experience. The rooms are quite dated, carpeted, old dressers and desks, old fashioned light switches (I haven't seen those in a while!) and the lined shower tray in the shower that gets quite slipper. And the mattress is rock hard. I don't quite know how they could make them that way-no give. The walls are also quite thin-any noise in the hallway feels like it is happening in your room. And it is the kind of place that is filled with people (parties, etc), who aren't really going to concern themselves with your good night's sleep. Lots of laughing, yelling, slamming doors all night. This hotel is also attached to a convention center. Before book, you might want to check what event is being held there. This weekend it was a massive dance competition. So the hotel was completely over run with girls under 12 in costumes and their moms. Obviously, they have every right to be there-but they made the bar unusable. Every seat, every barstool, was taken at lunch time by this crowd, and by the time we returned for a nightcap at 10pm, the bar and bar area was so filthy we decided to skip it. On a positive note, the staff everywhere was fantastic. Friendly, professional and efficient. We enjoyed the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and when we did find space to have a late lunch at the bar, the food was very good.

Despite being Titanium members, we were given a room and a floor that was totally under construction. The hallway reeked of chemicals. The hallway was covered in grit, paint, and the walls lined with construction machinery. Entryway required a room key to get into hotel WHEN WE ARRIVED, meaning that we couldn't get into the building without reaching security. We eventually changed rooms but the entire building had the smell of chemicals. They clearly should have told people this when booking.
