tripadvisorOn our southern Connecticut museum tour, we decided on visiting the Housatonic Museum. What a pleasant experience! Huge exhibition space for a college museum with a large gallery on two floors, hanging in two different buildings, and a sculpture space between the two buildings. Impressive. The range of works is quite interesting: African art, contemporary local artists, installations, expressionism, a Herbert Bayer, fabric art, abstract expressionism, realism... a long and varied list. Everyone on the staff that we met were very pleasant. If you're interested in art, a must visit.
MoreThe Housatonic Museum of Art houses an astounding collection of artworks, from great masters to up-and-coming talent.
Morevery lousy management and don’t even care about the visitors. They closed the museum for “safety reasons” but don’t bother posting the news online. Don’t they know that people come from far to see it?
MoreWhat a delightful experience. You walk into this Community College and everywhere you go you have art on the walls. They have a specific area where they display specific works but to be honest you should walk the corridors and you will see works done by some of the greatest artists known to man.
MoreHousatonic Museum of Art is quite the surprise. One would never guess that a community college would have the extensive collection it has. This is definitely a Bridgeport gem. You need to catch the art in their gallery but if you have more time, just walk the halls f the college and you will see more works of art as you walk the corridors.
