Sketchy place, has gone crazy downhill over the years. No longer a serious art center, and some aspects of the people and buildings made me feel unsafe.

Beautiful campus, impressive gallery space exhibiting professional artists (free to enter plus a great little shop!), incredible and diverse course selection taught by top notch professional artists from the area. Most inspired by their outreach education programs in Norwalk and Stamford, which brings curriculum-integrated arts education to Connecticut's neediest schools. This is a place everyone should know about and use as a community resource.

The teachers at Silvermine are very friendly and engaging. Materials provided and instruction is clear and helpful. Great place to learn and have fun while doing it.

my daughter and her friend were bored so I brought them down the hill from where I live to the Silvermine arts center there are three galleries and art school on beautiful property with a welding and pottery making studio on site and across the street is a lovely little café for coffee lemonade and sandwiches . Overall good day well spent.

I am giving this an average review instead of poor because my daughter did enjoy most of the classes. I'm writing this to add to Clausewitzhorse's review. I signed my child up for a program and there was a very lackadaisical approach to the classes, as if this was some sort of a walk-in freebie program. Her teacher had to miss a session because she was attending a family party. Instead of getting a replacement, or giving a partial refund, the director's solution was to add time to the remaining classes. Since this was a class where every session the students would do a new project and learn a new art form, adding time to each class did not make up for it. But the amazing part was when I contacted the director, her response was so rude and highly defensive that I did not even bother to counter-respond and just decided never again.
