On the evening of May 25, 1888 George I. Tyson, a prominent summer resident of Riverside, Conn. and an enthusiastic yachtsman, invited 10 of his friends to meet with him at his home to consider and act upon his plan to establish a yacht club in the community. The Riverside Yacht Club now offers junior, junior sailing, ladies and shooting programs. No sailing experience is necessary to join. The club features an introduction to Optimist sailing, boat rigging, and boat maintenance, as well as five mornings of sailing, including crazy rig day, treasure hunts and the a overnight activities. The company s website features listings of yacht racing events and results as well as weather links, club clothing and membership applications.
