I attended the Aries Spears show on Friday,April 24, 2026. The theater looks nice with its balcony and bar area. However here are my complaints:1. I was in the Second Row Gold Section with a great view with a horrible seat. The seat was uncomfortable and you are leaning on each other.2. The opening act Andy Steinberg was ok, he started 20 minutes after the starting time, it was difficult to hear or understand him even in the second row. It was obvious that the sound crew did not check his microphone.3. Aries Spears finally came out at 9pm-10pm. He was great with keeping the audience engaged and laughing. Then it was over. It would have been nice to have more of Aries perform .

Staff was horrible. Security was a pain and just terrible humans. There was a medical emergency and they wouldn't turn on the lights. Do not recommend

The Wellmont is a horrible venue! The Staff were rude and harassing. They refused to allow people with early access tickets into the venue at the agreed upon time. The security staff refused to turn up the house lights during a medical emergency. The staff then immediately cleared the venue floor after the show ended. Never again.

Man... , there's a number of folks mentioning security is abrasive or extra, what with the metal detector wands and pat downs. Wellmont theater is a great little venue that punches incredibly far above its weight class with the routine flow of top talent that rolls through there. My wife, friends, and I have visited numerous times (and continue to do so) for shows from improv, to stand up, to music of varied genres, all for internationally recognized entertainment artists. Drinks are a little expensive but nothing unexpected, but otherwise no major issues for such an old theater. Is security a little abrasive? Perhaps. But they at times have a lot of people to handle and wellmont is small so it quickly turns into a bottleneck so they need to get s*** done. As far as the wands and/or pat downs go, how can people be so outraged at extra security and peace of mind that they leave a 1 star review? Really? From what royal palace do they hail? This happens at so many concert venues. These cave trolls need to leave their basement and get out of the house once in a while. Go enjoy a show at wellmont, the local food is great, bars in Montclair are also very good. Absolutely worth it to do a dinner and a show here.

Incredibly unfriendly security staff. Just saw the Margaret Cho show, which was great, but the experience was marred from the beginning. You face a wall of security people before you enter. Open your bag!, one of them barked. I said please? Then they can't wait to get you out once the show is over. I was told to move by a woman guard as I made a call from my seat to arrange a ride, then found another woman guard waiting for me as I came out of the bathroom stall. All clear. she said into her walkie talkie. I guess everybody wanted to go home on a Sunday night, but geez.
