We saw the Sunday night performance of a wind ensemble and wonderful singer ‍ who took us through the journey of Queen. They played some of their most famous songs. It was a delightful experience.

First off..let me say I'd give this venue 0 stars if I could but I am forced to give it a star to leave a review.I paid a total of $165.25 for a front row seat to see the band 38 Special on October 16,2025.I am a senior citizen who also has disabilities and vision problems and the unacceptable lack of security at this venue ruined my entire night.When 38 Special came onto the stage,everyone was sitting.The first issue that made no sense to me was a woman who had a front row seat also right in the center stood up to dance.She was then told by this venues security to sit down.That should NEVER have happened, she should have been allowed to stand and dance right in front of the seat she paid for,but that is minor compared to what happened midway through the show.About midway through the show these same security guards that were sitting right in front of the stage allowed every single person that wanted to, they allowed them all to rush to the front of the stage no matter where they were sitting.People were actually coming down from the balcony and from way in the back and ended up in front of me and others who had front row seats.They were not told to go back to their seats, they were not told to back up at all and they were allowed to take over the entire front of the stage in front of us.They did NOT pay to be in the front,,,I did pay to be there and yet they allowed these people to come all the way down and stay planted in front of the stage the rest of the night.This Theatres security team did absolutely NOTHING, they just sat there on their butts and didnt move.We had a younger security guy in front of our part of the stage and the entire night he just sat there as the crowd rushed down from the back to the front,I had people all pushing me and in front of me and nothing was done about it.EVEN AFTER TELLING THIS SECURITY TO DO SOMETHING HE JUST SHRUGGED AND DID NOTHING !!!What am I paying for a front row seat for if I could have just paid for a much cheaper seat and ended up in the front anyways by just rushing the stage with the rest of them??? Then when the show ended I had some crazy guy pushing me so he could try to get a pick and the set list from the band as they went down the line thanking the crowd.This theatre allowed people to cut in front of us in the front row and stand there and their security just sat on their asses and did NOTHING.And the insane part of the whole thing is like I told you, they actually did tell that poor woman earlier who did belong in the front row to sit down when she tried to dance, yet they did NOTHING when the whole mob rushed to the front from their back seats.Is this theatres security just scared or intimidated by all the people that came down so they just did NOTHING? If so then why are they working there for? .This was the first time ever I had been to this venue and the experience was awful.Never again..Ive been to hundreds of concerts and never saw such lack of security where they just allowed others to take over our seats and places in the front row.Its unacceptable !!!Whats even worse is the response I got from the theatre.They took NO responsibility and actually blamed the bad themselves for causing this .What a joke !!! This is what they wrote back to me.........For many of our rock-show encores, we permit patrons to move forward temporarily, as this is a frequent request from the bands.Regarding the patron who was asked to sit while dancing, this appears to have been an error by a new security team member unfamiliar with the situation...So they blamed the band and then said they had some new security guard who had no clue how to do his job.They also refused to give me a refund or even a partial refund for this nightmare and didnt even offer a complimentary ticket for the future for a concert.You would think at the very LEAST they would have offered that, but they didnt.They held their ground and basically said to me too bad, theres nothing we can or will do about this..Just admitting their security guy didnt know how to do his job properly and committed an error should be enough right there to at least offer me a future ticket.It only would have been right but they didnt even do that..This was completely unfair to me and to all the others who paid big money for front row seats,especially with the amount of money I paid to be in the front row.The whole point of getting a front row seat is to have nobody in front of us, not a bunch of people who paid a minimum amount for their seats to be allowed to just come down and go right in front of me and others like that.And this theatres response to the issue and no solution or resolution even compounds on top of what happened that night and makes it even worse..Its unacceptable !! I am pleading with you people, do NOT go to this theatre. You will regret it big time.Forget about paying for good seats, people from anywhere in this place will be all allowed to all come down and go right in front of the stage and right in front of you anyways, so you are wasting your money here.Save your money and go to a real theatre or venue that pprovides actual security and values their customers and the money they pay for good seats, and doesnt abuse their customers and older people by just letting people from any place in the venue take over their seat areas.And their customer service and excuse answers blaming the band are utterly rediculous You will get NO help at all contacting them if you have a problem there..Big warning here for all of you who plan on going to the State Theatre of New Jersey at 15 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, NJ 08901...Stay away from this place.Dont waste your money and end up experiencing a nightmare.They wont help you at the event and they sure wont help you after it either...Avoid this Theatre at all costs !!

If you or someone you know has mobility issues I would not recommend going here. I was supposed to see the Nutcracker with my mother and unbeknownst to me the seats I originally bought were wheelchair companion seats. We get there and settled in and an usher comes up to us and rudely says we cannot sit there and to go to the box office. They refuse to issue a refund and instead switch us to balcony seats that were so high up my mother could not walk up the stairs and we ended up leaving without ever having seen the show. That coupled with the lack of accessible parking spots makes this an unfriendly location for those with mobility issues.

We attended a Saturday afternoon matinee that involved a light show of mesmerizing acuity. The jugglers and the laser beams were colorful and amazing. We got lucky parking near the entrance because of the street fair. What a fun day.

We recently saw Shen Yun at the State Theater, and what a great venue it is! First of all, in the heart of New Brunswick, restaurants, pubs, and coffee are all within a short walking distance. There are several parking decks surrounding the State Theatre, and honestly, it a short walk, as the 'blocks' are not long at all. The venue I believe seats just under 1900, so EVERY SEAT is a GOOD SEAT! We were in aisle V, and it was perfect. There is a concession stand before you enter the theatre and bathrooms are also right there. The sold several types of candy, coffee, soda, water bottles, chips, and popcorn (which I think is the only thing you CANNOT bring into the theatre, but you can enjoy while waiting to go in). The acoustics and sound system were great. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
