tripadvisorEvery once and a while we stumble upon small rays of light that gives us a hope for this stupid planet. Alabaster Bookshop got this gentle feeling of peace and curiosity. You just want to read. The guy behind the counter mentioned Karl Ove Knausgård and pulp fiction - in the same sentence. The second guy, busy cleaning the windows also gave that friendly impression that makes you want to come back.Wow!Spend you dollars here and your time reading and help this precious scrappy bookshop alive.
MoreLocated near NYU and Cooper Union. This tiny bookshop is crammed floor to ceiling and wall to wall with used books for every category of interest. Most are good bargains, though some first editions or unusual books are not so inexpensive. But if you still prefer reading the printed page instead of a screen, this shop is worth spending some time in. It took self discipline on my part to only buy two books.
