Though this is indeed a general neighborhood bookstore with a broad selection chosen from among many categories, it is not of the modern "superstore" variety. A friendly and helpful staff will assist the customer in finding what he or she needs. Browsing is encouraged and many interesting older works of fiction, reprints and cookbooks are available.

tripadvisorThree Lives & Company is a charming independent bookstore with a warm, inviting atmosphere and thoughtfully curated shelves that make every visit feel like a delightful literary discovery.Admission is free. The staff was very helpful . I always make it a point to buy a book from every city I travel from . We were at the book store from around half an hour .
MoreOn a bustling street corner lies Three Lives & Company Booksellers: a shop that is not entirely unlike your idyllic Manhattan bookstore fantasy of the late 90s.In here you will find books spanning multitudes of genres; fiction, nonfiction, poetry, history, etc... Here, I was able to browse to my heart's content. The store is small, and it was packed with people at the time I was visiting, but you don't feel crammed. The layout is relatively wide open, and if you love books then you will be welcomed and there will always be space for you.The prices are standard for a locally owned bookstore. I wouldn't say they were particularly high, but they weren't a steal either. If you're like me though, you won't care. Supporting local is always worth an extra few dollars.I would highly recommend this shop for any book lovers. There's nothing like coming home after traveling and diving into a new book that will forever remind you of the adventure you just had. That's truly priceless.
MoreWalking about Greenwich Village we just had to stop at my favorite bookstore on Thursday, December 28, 2023. We were also here in 2008, when I spoke to and met the owner. Back then I had sought out this place after seeing a photo of Joel Coen (famous movies maker, director, producer) standing in front of it. Great selection of books here, even though the store is not that big.
MoreWhat a fabulous neighborhood bookstore! The size was small, but the selection was carefully curated. I had a hard time narrowing my final selections. The staff members - and there were several working the afternoon I went - were all eager to assist customers with book recommendations, conversations about latest reads, and casual chats with locals. If I lived here, I would be their Norm!
MoreAs a tourist searched for a physical bookstore whilst in New York and found this treasure. Loved the feel of the place and the encyclopaedic knowledge of the ladies there. Shame they only had 1 of the books I was looking for!
