This is a very grand concert building with a big stage. It has a classic design and is quite beautiful. Most noted for classical music concerts of various types, but there is some pop music here as well. A concert here is a lovely experience.

We saw Liza at 80 here. Billed as an extraordinary event it truly was. The acoustics are amazing. You only live once don’t have FOMO - just Go while you still can!

I would give Carnegie Hall 3 stars except that the concert itself was spectacular. We saw Harry Connick Jr’s special tribute concert to his mother and it was powerful, emotional and special. The talent of all the performers Connick, his big band and the orchestra were all spectacular.I love old buildings and would have toured Carnegie hall anyway, so I was very excited for the opportunity for this concert. The problem with old buildings is, well, they’re old. The building was constructed in 1890, people were smaller back then. Being 5 foot on a good day, I didn’t have much of a problem, but if you are of any size the seats are tiny. I don’t know if they are different on the main level, we were in the balcony. Also do not get seats on the side in the balcony, you will not be able to see much of the stage.The elevators only went up so far, so if you are in the balcony, you still have to climb stairs and there is no restroom on that level necessitating another trip down and back up the stairs. That being said, the sound is excellent and the theatre stunning.

While the concert was good, there was a 20 minute intermission. The bar was open during the intermission. It wasn’t until after you ordered and paid for your drinks and snacks that you find out that you 1. Can’t take food or drinks into the concert hall. and 2. Can’t re-enter after the intermission if you’re late. We spent $75 on drinks, snacks and a tip for something we didn’t get. I’ll be disputing the charge for all of it.

We took the Carnegie Hall Tour and it was quite pleasant . There was a piano tuner tuning two pianos on stage for an evenings performance so we could not get to close to the stage and had to refrain from speaking on the main floor . The theater is gorgeous and the acoustics we were told were superb from any seat in the theater . It was informative and enjoyable but we didn’t get to see backstage nor the dressing rooms . We were also not able to visit the private seating rooms on the first tier . Lots of pictures of famous people who entertained at Carnegie were on the walls and there was a small museum which had on display Judy Garlands sparkling jacket she wore on her return to the stage .
