tripadvisorI admittedly only found out about this bookstore because it was the exterior (and the inspiration for the interior) for the show YOU. I of course had to check it out. It is picture perfect. If you love the show it’s instantly recognizable. The store has a wide variety of books in different genes. So cute to walk around. The guy working is super nice and is a great conversationalist. There’s also two precious cats that explore the shop. It’s an amazing little bookstore that brings a small town feel to a big city. Prices are a little high compared to amazon but that’s the price of supporting small local business. Definitely recommend checking it out whether you love the show or not.
MoreThe good news for book lovers is that small book stores like this one continue to be in existence and it appears that book lovers really want them to continue.Whenever I am in the neighborhood, I stop by and always find something interesting to enrich my life and to help ensure the store remains in business. The clerk told me they have a group of customers that do the same thing. One new discovery: there is a charming garden in the back, who ch is very comfortable when the weather is good.Good stock of religious and New York City books but with a very wide range.
MoreWhere Knowledge Reigns Supreme. This bookstore has the largest collection of religious books in the city, but also stocks a wide range of current best-sellers, fiction, non-fiction, religious books, children's and young adult books, history, psychology, cards, music and gifts. The owner and the clerks are all book lovers and filled with good advice on what to read. There are also a number of discussion groups and readings for kids. 40 years of experience, 20 years in this shop -- everything a small bookstore should be. On my last stop, I bought a book about birding under the Brooklyn Bridge -- plan to do the same thing for Ward Island -- amazing what you can learn.
