tripadvisorMy first Broadway Show and what a honor and privilege to experience it in this magnificent theater! Brings to mind what the theater days of yesterday when going to the theater was an 'event' in itself! Loved the way the theater has been maintained to reflect its original character!!! Wonderful experience!
MoreGreat show ! No elevator so be mindful if stairs are a challenge do not order seats in the Mezzaine.
MoreIf you have mobility issues, please book the main floor. There is no elevator and my dad had difficulty managing the stairs. Once you get to the next floor, there are more stairs to navigate. ALSO, the food and beverage section is in the basement. Even as a healthy 50-something, I found the stairs exhausting. Get your snacks first! But we enjoyed the show!
MoreThe Barrymore Theatre is one of Broadway’s older venues, and unfortunately, its age shows in several key areas. The bathroom situation is, frankly, a nightmare for both men and women—long lines, limited stalls, and not nearly enough space for the crowd sizes. Concessions were shockingly expensive, and wait times for everything from entry to refreshments were frustratingly long. What really dampened the experience, though, was the staff. Many were abrupt and unfriendly, creating a tone that felt more hostile than hospitable. When you're paying premium prices for a Broadway show, you expect a welcoming environment—not to feel like an inconvenience. That said, we were a captive audience for Othello, and wow, what a show! The performance was absolutely powerful and riveting—an unforgettable experience that soared above the venue's shortcomings. The production gets five stars, but the theater itself could seriously use some updates—and a customer service refresher for the staff.
MoreThe play was phenomenal in every way. The theatre, spectacular. However, when we booked, we were told NO LATE SEATING. I agree with this premise, as a courtesy to other play-goers, and even more so to the fine actors. And what happened? Late seating. It was very disruptive and disrespectful. Please work on this so that others don't experience the same thing we did.
