tripadvisorSuch a disappointing experience. We went to Chess with very high hopes, but our evening was completely ruined. While trying to find our seats, K. Morales, a theater staff member, repeatedly and firmly directed us to certain seats, only for us to discover halfway through the performance that our actual seats were 10 rows closer to the stage.About 30 minutes into the show, when the performance was already in full swing, another staff member approached us and informed us that we were not in the correct seats and that they needed to accommodate guests who had arrived more than half an hour after the performance had begun. We were shocked and forced to squeeze past everyone in our row, and then again in the row where our actual seats were located, in the middle of the performance. There is virtually no legroom in the theater, so navigating through the extremely tight rows twice in the dark, with people’s belongings scattered around, felt nearly impossible and was highly disruptive. We were deeply upset that we had been directed to the wrong seats in the first place, especially since directing patrons to their seats is a primary responsibility of K. Morales’s role. The seats where we had initially been placed were much worse than the ones we had purchased, and we were equally surprised that extremely late arrivals were escorted through rows during the performance, disrupting everyone.Even though this happened last week, we still remember the experience very clearly and with great frustration. If you do not want your evening ruined by poor organization, rude customer service, and unprofessional theater staff, I would strongly recommend reconsidering attending. Based on this experience, I strongly believe that staff members like K. Morales should not be working in a theater environment.
MoreOne of the many beautiful old broadway theaters. It looks small but it is actually one of the biggest broadway theaters. The sight lines are very good nearly all seats have views. Only areas to be aware of is on mezzanine level where the walkway enters seats above them may have slight obstruction for shorter people. Ask for a riser seat if you are short and need a little lift.Be Aware when picking seats—-This theatre was built over 100 years ago and the seat size and legroom are extremely tight.Anyone over 5’9” will have their legs banging against the seat (see attached pictures) in front of them. Width of seats are also very tight, so your best bet is to get an aisle seat.
MoreThe venue itself was very nice, clean, and friendly staff! It left a lasting impression on me and each time I go has been amazing!
MoreYes The Imperial Theatre is gorgeous and historic - an actual landmark - but holy cow it's got to be the most uncomfortable theater experience on the planet, and it's staffed by the least welcoming group of ushers in New York.First the seating - been here twice in the last 4 months and can firmly say -- If negative legroom could exist, the Imperial is it. I had actual knee pain both times I tried to fold myself into these absurd seats. I am 5' 3 and a size 6 dress.Seats are so teeny tiny and crunched together so tightly, that you spend much of the performance trying to make yourself as small as possible. The person next to you will touch you. It's worse than the worst seats on the most cramped low-budget airline. The Imperial is the Spirit Airlines of theaters. And if you get a man spreader next to you, ya might as well go home. If you must subject yourself to this place, sit in aisle seat. At least you can turn sidewise.Secondly, the ushers. Weird and off-putting, these folks will stare at you blankly when you ask the simplest question. And whatever ya do -- don't ask for a second playbill, or even a first playbill. Their dead-eyed response will be as if you just asked for the nuclear codes.
MoreThe premier arena in Fairfield County CT and possibly the State of Connecticut. The arena is the home ice of the Bridgeport Islanders Hockey team. It also has hosted the Women's NCAA tournament. The facility is great for concerts and other events. There is no bad seat in the arena. The concession options are very good and the people who work there are really nice. We saw the Broadway show Smash and truly enjoyed ourselves.
