tripadvisorRye Nature Center is a peaceful nature preserve where you can take a walk or hike and get away from the busy feel of the main thoroughfare. Although the main entrance is close to the road the preserve felt increasingly more secluded to me once I got further inside and began walking along the trails. There is a good mix of packed dirt and gravel paths with rocky sections and small hills, there are also stairs, ponds and wetlands and different routes to explore, the main terrain is manageable overall but there are enough changes in elevation and surface to make the walk more interesting. Near the main entrance there are picnic style tables and open areas that seem useful for families, school groups or a simple break before or after a walk.Once I got deeper into the preserve and entered the main wooded area I did not see anyone else on the trails during my visit, I was able to walk by myself and enjoy the solitude which I really appreciated. The area inside the deer enclosure was where I experienced the deepest most genuine sense of peaceful solitude.I would recommend Rye Nature Center to anyone looking for a peaceful place to take a walk or hike, explore different terrain and trails and enjoy some genuine solitude in nature.
MoreThe Rye Nature Centre has some nice quiet nature trails, but note that no dogs allowed on there property. I've seen this restriction elsewhere, and I'm not sure why nature would be upset by a leashed dog.
MoreA one building museum to include some local animals, bird viewing and classes on local wild inhabitants. There is a kids garden as well a some walking trails. The Center hosts several special events which are fun for families with young children to attend and participate in.
MoreNature all around. So thankful to have such a piece of natural beauty protected as conservation land.
MoreAmazing spot in the heart of Rye. Great children activities. Learn about nature and have fun while doing it!!
