The Union Church of Pocantico Hills is a charming historic church that was established in 1921, and is fashioned upon a lovely late Gothic Revival style design. Painted windows adorn the church's interiors, which give it a beautiful archaic feel. Every year, hundreds of visitors flock to the church to admire its magnificent Chagall and Matisse stained glass windows. Guided tours of the church offer an insight into the story behind this historic works of art, and are organized regularly from April through December. Regular worship and prayer services are still conducted at the Union Church of Pocantico Hills.

We have seen a miracle… Who could possibly expect to see Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows in a little unassuming church in beautiful Sleepy Hollow? And yet they are there thanks to generous patronage of the Rockefeller family. The Matisse rose window is there too… A miracle indeed! We came all the way from Boston to see it and one very gracious church employee allowed us to take a peek at the windows… We are eternally grateful to her. We are devoted Chagall’s fans, had seen his windows and paintings all over the world, but we never expected to find them in this amazing small church. I don’t have enough words to describe how gorgeous Chagall’s windows are, so I’ll better post the photos.

We had never heard of this entirely unique gem until we started to look at places to visit in and around Tarrytown. Despite my almost complete lack of understanding and appreciation of modern art, Marc Chagall holds a very special place in my heart and artistic preferences. That is why I consider myself truly blessed to have been able to visit the Church of Pocantico Hills and see the biblical images come to life by the hand of this great artist. We would love to visit in better weather to see the sun flooding the church through these hauntingly beautiful windows. We were very fortunate to meet the church's music director, a distinguished musician and educator, and a very very nice person. Besides telling us more about the church, she also pointed us in the direction of Sergey Rachmaninov's grave just a short drive from the church. Thank you very much, Katia, it was a great pleasure talking to you!

This in must see historic church with remarkable, one of a kind stained glass windows created by Matisse & Chagall. It’s was the last project Matisse created before his death a few weeks later. The staff are well informed, generously share their knowledge & appreciate questions. We congratulate the parish for sharing their church with the public

This was a last-minute pit stop for us, and we are so glad that did so. The church, which is charming in and of itself, has a beautiful Matisse rose window and a collection of amazing and fascinating Chagall stain glass windows. Just as we arrived, a docent happened to be starting a tour, and we felt so fortunate to be able to hear about the history of the church, its unique windows and its relationship to the Rockefeller family. Our docent was very knowledgeable, and her passion was infectious. My only regret is that we had to leave early and did not catch her name.

Spend some time with the Chagall and Matisse windows. They are stunning works of art and the more you look, the more you see. Thank you to the Rockefeller family.
