We rented a small house just down the block from the auditorium, and walked over quite a few times during our stay. The village definitely makes use of it - one night was Open Mic Night and featured many talented performers from Round Lake, another day was a Plein Air art festival. It houses the Ferris Tracker Pipe Organ which was built in the mid-1800's and recently became a National Historic Landmark!

The Round Lake Auditorium, built in 1912 as a glass enclosed pavilion, contains a Gothic Revival-cased Tracker organ built in 1847 and moved here in 1888. The organ has 1900 pipes and is the oldest and largest of its kind in the United States. Every Summer this 450 seat auditorium holds concerts, performances, art shows, and various social activities from June through August. It is a must see! It is almost hidden in the middle of the village of Round Lake. It took me fifty plus years before I realized it existed, even as I drove through or around the village. My primary visits over the last eight years have been to attend the organ concerts. Many renowned organists, and students studying classical organ, come here for the experience and pleasure of playing this magnificent piece of equipment. The recital I attended today was performed by Craig Stewart Williams, organist and choirmaster for the Cadet Chapel at the U. S. Military Academy in West Point, NY. Check out the Round Lake Auditorium web page for the schedule each year. Also, I strongly suggest you bring seat cushions for any performance you attend. The old wooden seats are VERY hard.

Had the pleasure of seeing & hearing the great oldest in America pipe organ built in 1847 & moved here in 1888. The organ has over 1900 pipes and concerts are usually June-August. Currently under consideration of being declared a National Landmark! The building & town is like stepping back in time! Like going to a summer camp but only small town size. You can imagine the meeting & social events happening here! Was quite a treat to hear Bach's Organ Toccata & Fugue in D Minor as exit music...but we stayed to watch organist & hear this special treat!

This village may be small in size, but it is huge in architecture and the arts. It began in the late 1800's as a Methodist tent revival site. Early structures were simply tent platforms. Later cottages were built by arts attendees on those platforms. The center attraction was then, and still is, the auditorium which seats 450 and which is the center of summer arts shows and concerts on the vintage pipe organ. My great uncle performed there in the late 1890's in a stage performance of Naughty Marietta. He later went on to a career as an opera singer in Australia. The villages' proximity to Saratoga Springs is another plus...only a few miles away. Take a day or more and visually step back in time and also see the present.

I love the village of round lake. Reminds me of Lilydale on Chattaqua Lake in western NY. The auditorium is old but they have some interesting shows all summer. The organ is very unique. Nice village to wlk around, ride a bike through (right on an awesome biking/hiking trail).
