tripadvisorMy husband and I had an hour to kill, and thanks for Tripadvisor found this sweet little museum in Schenectady. After parking down at the end of the street by the river, we realized there was parking right behind the museum! It was six dollars each I believe to enter and the museum is an old house with a variety of exhibits. We found the furniture, the maps, and the Scrimshaw the most interesting. Some of the exhibits need a very good dust! Nice lady on reception and clean toilets!
MoreNice historical museum highlighting the local history of the Schenectady area, its early settlers, and industries. There were alot of artifacts, a map room, a huge dollhouse, and some artwork. If you have a NARM card it's free, but if not, the $6 admission charge is well worth it. The lot behind the house is tiny, but it wasn't hard to find street parking. We saw this in just under an hour.
MoreWhat a find! The personal working here are beyond helpful. They will help you find what you are looking for in Schenectady. They have all sorts of records and resources. The attached museum was pleasant with some interesting items.

MoreWhile visiting upstate NY we stopped in and found excellent genealogical reference material. In addition to enjoying the museum, art work, brochures and books, they gave us a handout on the cell phone walking tour of the Stockade Historic District. Highly recommend a visit.
