Buffalo City Hall City Hall

A classic example of Art Deco architectural design, this building ranks as an early 20th Century American masterpiece and has been considered an enduring symbol of Buffalo's genius and spirit since it was designed in 1929 by John J. Wade. Located in the center of downtown and overlooking Buffalo's main public square, the 32-story building boasts Native American-influenced tile details, friezes showing aspects of city life, and a top-floor observation tower with views of Lake Erie and the city.

The tour schedule on this is very limited but it's a free tour. We arrived very early to go up to the Observation Tower first and it was very cool. It was a Monday so there weren't many people there which was good because it was very windy with storms. A little scary at times but the views were outstanding. We came back down to meet our guide Eileen who was extremely informative about the building and teaching about the architecture was fascinating. The tour is about 45 minutes long then you finish at the Observation Tour. A must see in Buffalo!!!

My husband and I visited here on our vacation in August. What a beautiful building inside and outside! We took a tour of the building and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the building and the different rooms he took us to see. We then went up to the observation tower and got to see Buffalo high above.

So glad my son saw a video about this and suggested we check out the free observation deck on our visit to Buffalo. The views are awesome and it wasn’t crowded at all during our June Monday afternoon visit. Super cool.
