Went to see the grave of baseball manager Joe McCarthy. Simple stone near other family members. Easy to find. Worth it if you're a baseball fan.

Nice sunny spring day found us here for a walk and to get outside . There are many nice statues here but there are also a lot of grave markers tilted or sinking and dipped over in the wet grounds. Not very well maintained. There are plenty of roads for walking but also idiots who use these as as cut through to drive from Delaware Ave to Elmwood instead of taking the actual road next to the cemetery.

Reading the reviews I must have visited the wrong place. But the map shows that I did not. What a dreadful cemetery. Right next to the highway so you have the constant noise of traffic. Poorly maintained. Those awful flat grave markers that they mow over. Every time I visit I have to try and dig out my family's stones. Not easy. I so wish my family was not buried here. But alas that decision was not made by me. Holy Cross in South Buffalo is a MUCH better cemetery.

One of the first people in our family to be buried here was back in 1967. My husband and I visited the graves of both my maternal and paternal grandparents. My parents are buried near my paternal grandparents. We also visited the graves of an aunt and uncle who are buried in the Mausoleum at the St. John the Baptist plaza. (After visiting with family I found out that their were more members of our family buried in the same area as my parents and grandparents and we have other relatives are buried in this cemetery.) I do wish I had this information while we were at the cemetery. I had the opportunity to interface with the office person and she was very gracious and helpful. She provided both maps and plats so we could find family member graves with ease. Thank you for your assistance. The cemetery, from the area we were in, was well taken care of. I remember the cemetery and the other parts they have from my growing up years. If you are visiting an area where you have family buried, out of respect, stop by for a visit. It gives you a perspective on how short life really is; especially for some of those who have left this earth already.

Life is very short and we should live a quality one. This attraction tells us about the reality of life. nothing is permanent in this world. I went to this place and sat for 3 hours thinking deeply about the life.
